Beautiful, Unique Experience

Review of Skybeds
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 12, 2019
Amazing experience -- a very different way to appreciate safari. We had a great experience at the hide en route, then a great dinner overlooking the waterhole. By the time we went to sleep there were dozens of elephants drinking under the stars, and we could hear them, and then a pair of lions, right outside our structure all night. The towers are well designed and feel fairly high-end despite the simplicity, and give a great, exposed view of the surrounding area. Very strongly recommend!

This is one of the most memorable nights of our 3 week trip in Southern Africa! After staying two nights at Sable Alley, we did one night at the Skybeds. It is NOT to be missed. Our guide, Russel, was so sweet, very poetic, incredibly knowledgable and told amazing stories. We felt honored to be his guests. We were picked up in the afternoon by Russel after our morning game drive, drove through the muapani forest and had our afternoon tea at the elephant hyde, an absolutely mesmerizing experience. Arriving at the Skybeds is very magical, with the closest civilization being 70 miles away. The serenity and remoteness was so cool. Our chefs, Tony from New Zealand, and Sarah from Khwai were fantastic. We were celebraing my parents 43rd wedding anniversary and my sister and her fiance's engagement. They made the night so special and the food was delicious! Sleeping under the stars and almost full moon, and watching animals come in and out of the waterhole all night long was so amazing. Can't recommend enough!

What an experience. It’s Miles from anywhere so completely away from anyone else. There are only three three huts about 50 metres apart. We were greeted by our own cook and barman. There were 3 couples and we all sat around the open fire listening to the elephants in the distance before having a set three course dinner. The tree huts have one floor that is the bathroom and then the top floor is an open bedroom under the stars. You are surrounded by mosquito netting and you just lie watching the stars. An incredible experience.
On the travel to the Skybed you stop at the Elephant Hide. A shipping container that has been lowered into the water hole that you step down into and you watch the elephants through the opening. You could almost touch them. Amazing.

Oh my! Stayed at Hyena Pan camp...and stayed one night at the skybeds oh my! It is gorgeous, and has a flush toliet, a shower and a private sink. Beds are luxurious real framed...comfortable and enjoy the milky way! ALso near a private water holw, the views are great, fabulous appetizers watching the sunset, and a delicsiou meal and campfire too! The female chef is SPECTACULAR and made wonderful canned bread, and told us the story of it. Some of the best food in Africa is made here by her!! The sightings were incredible, a lion kill/ overtaken by hyena, along with mnay ellies, and birds, and jackals! YOU NEED To do this! Very warm and comfortable!! No worries the staff is excellent!!!! So cool and a fantastic memory!!!

Room tip: All the rooms are Great! Only 4, very private!! INCREDIBLE>>>JUST DO IT!!!
