“Beautiful place to stay”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

After 8 days in the bush (mobile Camping Safari), at first Kanana Camp was a little bit overwhelming. All this luxury and a lot of socialising going on. But it came out as a great place to stay and to relax for a few days. The staff and the management is very friendly and well organised. The meals are exquisite. We've tried all available activities (exempt fishing) and had some nice sightings.

We spent 4 nights at Kanana at the start of the month, including our 25th wedding anniversary. The location is great and gives a good mix of land drives and water outings. The Mokoro rides are a bit unnerving to start, but once you get used to being so low in the water, it's a really great experience. A trip to the famous Heronry is also not to be missed. On the game drives, our guide, Aubrey was great: very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the birds and game, never worrying about how long we took to take photos etc. But really everyone we met at camp Kanana made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble to organise so thank you Mark, Georgie, John & the team for making this a truly wonderful trip for us. If we go back to Botswana, we will definitely return to Kanana.

We arrived to the welcoming sound of the ladies singing, our hosts Mark & Georgi could not do enough to make us feel at home for the whole of our stay. The staff, food and experiences were all excellent. Our guide did his very best to find us 'the elusive' lions and was disappointed when he tracked them to the crossing into the next concession, it was indeed just as memorable to be involved in the 'tracking'. The delta cruises were amazing with their abundance of birdlife, the occasional sighting of a hippos eyes and the crocodile resting on the reeds. To be woken at night by the sound of the hippos calling or the monkeys playing in the trees above the tented rooms all add to the experience. An excellent few days spent in the Delta, thanks to our hosts, our guides and all the staff at Kanana.

We ended our 2 week safari holiday at Kanana and it was just perfect. The Lodge is tastefully decorated with attention to detail in the comfortable tents (eg dressing gown and slippers included). The staff has a positive helpful and happy attitude and the guides are very knowledgeable of the remarkable fauna and flora there. Food is great and touches of special care(eg packed lunch in departure) with good coffee and selection if teas too on self service.

On arrival we were welcomed by Georgi and immediately felt at home. Later Mark was equally welcoming and we were soon to find that nothing was too difficult! When I was unable to go on our Mokoro experience, he made it his priority to find a time for me to do it before we left, as he knew how much I had been looking forward to it! Amos was a wonderful guide and tracker and always up to mischief. Our outings with him were educational and full of fun! The combination of land, water and night safaris make this an exceptional camp to visit. The Heronry is a must to see.
The accommodation was first class, the staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Our holiday in Africa, so far, has been unbelievably good but Kanana, we think, tops the lot!
Thank you Mark, Georgi, Amos and all the wonderful staff for making our stay an exceptional experience! We hope we will return some day.

We recently stayed at Kanana camp as part of a small group, tour through Namibia and Botswana.
We had previously stayed at Ker & Downey sister camps, Okuti and Shinde, and highly recommend our experiences enjoyed there.
The high standard of the tented accommodation, high quality food, attentive services of the staff both in camp and the game drives, make for a very enjoyable safari experience.
Well done Mark & Georgia, our long table dinner under the stars exceeded all our expectations.

Room Tip: For convenience the tents closest to the main camp tent, however no real disadvantage other than hav...

have just returned from a small group tour to Namibia and Botswana with Inca Tours. Kanana camp was a unique, exceptional, wonderful experience. Excellent friendly service.High quality meals served around a single long dinner table ensured you feel part of the family, unique activities with speed boat, mekoro experience, walking tours or the usual game drives keep you occupied. Or sitting in the peaceful 'camp' watching sunset or sunrise listening to wildlife around you. It is my second visit and again rated as a favourite amongst my group.

Room Tip: all 'tents' are along a pathway away from the main camp. request lower numbers (1-4) for a c...
