We flew into a nearby small airstrip in Botswana to be greeted by one of the guides who drove us to the camp and was our companion on three safaries. Since this was northern Botswana and in April, 2013, the island camp was surrounded by water. In addition to the drive safaries, we took a boat outing, the boatman standing and propelling us through the reeds as the sun set and the night sounds came alive. Everyone we met was helpful and caring, with great attention to our safety. The camp was operated almost without us seeing the preparations. The guides are connected to each other by radio in order to share any outstanding animal sightings with all the guests.
