We were in awe from arrival to departure. From the friendly staff to the traditional decor, right down to the cool dip in the fountained pool - two enjoyable, fun filled days were spent at Planet Baobab while exploring the Makgadikgadi Pans. A definate must for anyone traveling in Botswana.

Don't miss this inexpensive gem when travelling to Maun. Great pool, interesting chalets and fantastic full day drive into the pans to catch the zebra migration. Our guide, Uyapo, was exceptional! Thanks again to management and staff.

we stayed in this place in August 2008
we had our hut broken into money phone credit cards stolen..
safe taken off wall!!!
The manager did not once appologise!! They called te police eventually and the police officer in charge informed us that it had happened before!! That tme the intruderes used knives to threten the tourists. They refunded our acomodation costs and gave u a free trip... wedid not ask for this WE WANTED AN APPOLOGY. Themaager suggested unbelievably that the elephant fence failed and the local villaers who were several km away had been waiting for this to happen nad sneaked in and broken in.!! It was in our opinion an inside job. They did not een know the safe had gone until my son 8 at the time informed them
I am writing this at they persist in sending me e mails askingdodI want to go back!! They did not even have the courtesy to answer our letters !!
This place is the sister camp of Jacks camp...which is supposed to be one of the best places to stay in Botswana!! I cannot put the correct date of stay above here as the site does not allow me.

Just spent one night here and the trees are truly amazing to see. The staff were very friendly and recommend spending at least one night here on your travels.
Didn’t get chance to use the pool but did look inviting. Food good and reasonable priced. Did notice that at after dark the insects like to come out to play, but only hang around for 20 minutes or so. So please hang around in the bar the atmosphere in there is great.

Planet Baobab is a funky little place. The hut we stayed in (#1, if I remember correctly) was basic but nice enough and had a large bathroom. Great pool area. Really cool and funky bar. Good, mixed crowd. Great camp for a one-night stopover at a very reasonable price.

This is an hotel which has originality, located in a beautiful environment and makes you feel welcomed !
The "huts" are spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable !
The swimming pool is big, clean and centrally located !
The bar is awesome ,filled with African artifacts and offers a wide selection of exotic drinks at moderate prices !
The service is very good and the staff is eager to chat with you and make you feel at home !
The huge baobabs around the complex are impressive and leave you the feeling that you are in a "different " location !
Only minus :there were zillions of flies at this time of the year but for some reasons (insecticides ??),none in the huts,at the bar and the restaurant !

  • Liked — The environment and the facilities
  • Disliked — The flies
