Unforgettable

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 13, 2016
Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting along the river where elephants, hippos and African buffalo can be viewed from the look-out. Baboons, warthogs and mongoose wandered the grounds and the game drives were wonderful. All meals were excellent too. We really enjoyed our stay.

The drive to the lodge makes you realise how much you are going to be part of the wildlife experience. On arriving however the service and attention is 5 star! The rooms are well equipped with large balconies and views of the river. All meals are of good standard and the game drives are great - led my knowledgeable rangers. Overall a perfect place for comfort and safari

Room tip: Rooms all seem consistently good

This was the final 3 days of a 3 week Southern Africa trip. In an excellent location on the Chobe River inside Chobe game park, the lodge was superb with very adequate room & small balcony. Staff were lovely and very attentive. We were impressed by the many personal touches.
On walking to the end of the boardwalk after arrival we were presented with the sight of a lifetime, a huge plain to the side of the river with more elephants than you could imagine, way into the distance. A truly amazing & heart-warming sight. The subsequent river safari in the other direction found many more elephant groups & families coming to the water in large numbers for very close & intimate viewing, along with hippos, baboons, impala, fish eagles & many more rounded off with a beautiful African sunset.
Very knowledgeable guides made drives & river trips most interesting. This was our 4th safari and rated highly in particular for elephant, hippos, fish eagles, impala, baboons & water buffalo, but there's plenty more.

Wowee! We arrived at lunchtime and this very special experience began with great service at a 3 course yummy lunch on the balcony overlooking the Chobe River. We were shown to our luxury suite complete with private pool and sundeck and given the itinerary of the next 3 days here at Chobe. Our first afternoon consisted of a boat cruise including sunset drinks on board. Our guide was Vivian who was knowledgeable but also fun and experienced. We felt like we were in safe hands. Nothing was too much for her and we really appreciated the lengths she went to making sure we felt like we'd seen "everything". One morning game drive she organised for us to have a breakfast picnic with us, as we were venturing to a further afield waterhole to spot even more animals. It was an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed having the same guide for the 3 days and also being in the same small group of 6 for all tours. Each night the dinners are served in various locations around the Lodge which can only be described as magical. The lighting is special and each table is decorated uniquely by the server. The meals were all of a consistent high standard and so was the service.

Room tip: We paid a lot more for the luxury villa but probably didn't get as much use out of it as we were out on game drives and cruises.

Great stay, room clean and comfortable. Staff were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed game drives on land and river, even afternoon high tea. Meals were very good. Lots of atmosphere. The room included laundry service which made packing for the return trip so much easier. I left the lodge without my kindle reader. The terrific staff and management forwarded it to my hotel in Victoria falls before I even missed it. Would definitely go again .

Room tip: Keep bathroom door closed so room stays cooler.
