The Ngoma Safari Lodge is perched overlooking the Chobe River plains into Namibia. The luxurious rooms are excellent - Roomy, comfortable, air conditioned, well appointed and all with extensive views of the floodplains and numerous herds of wildlife.
The staff were genuine, knowledgable and welcoming throughout. The lodge is very well managed and organised by Jarryd and Frances and you are in no doubt from the moment you arrive that you are in safe hands and you really feel welcome and comfortable. Meals and drinks are magnificent, plentiful and proudly introduced by the chefs with everything included.
Our Guide, MK, told us many stories and was full of information about the wildlife. Game drives were offered morning and afternoon with the optional morning boat cruise proving to be outstanding. All activities and transfers to and from the lodge were well coordinated and planned.
We saw many animals and birds - herds of zebras, water buffalo, blue wilderbeast, elephants, waterbuck, sables and impala. There were many lilac breasted rollers, fish eagles, vultures, giraffes, kudu, hippos, a secretary bird and many others. One of the highlights was a close-up experience with a family of lions including cubs, expertly tracked and located by our guide, MK.
The drives were comfortable although in August we needed a warm coat, beanie and gloves under the supplied ponchos in the morning. Layering is good as it gets warm by the late morning.
It was a pleasure to meet and drive with other guests and share their experiences.
Watching animals from our private deck, plunge pool or the common lounge facilities was incredible. The staff served a magical dinner on our deck on the last night and their efforts to make our stay exceptional were most appreciated.
All in all a highlight in a wonderful trip to Botswana.
