Ngoma Safari Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

We had a wonderful experience at Ngoma Safari Lodge with our needs anticipated and met at every turn from meals, beverages and safaris to beautifully washed and pressed laundry. The managers John and Babs made every effort to ensure that our stay was safe, pleasant and memorable. We went for amazing safaris each day at the Chobe National Park and saw a wide array of animals, birds and reptiles. In addition, the view from our suite was breath-taking and unforgettable.

Room Tip: We had suite no.1 which was more private and 3 suites away from the main lodge.

Most of the time you see photos of a hotel and then arrive and are sadly disappointed. Not so with Ngoma. Pictures cannot begin to capture the beauty of the savannah setting. The rooms are appointed and will meet the standards of the most discriminating of travelers. Babs, John and the entire staff work overtime to make sure that everything is perfect. The game drives are expertly run. I really appreciated that we stayed with the same guide our entire stay. He knew what game we had seen and what we were still searching for; customizing the drive.

If you are looking for the perfect luxury vacation with a little walk on the wild side, look no further!

Room Tip: Every room is equally wonderful

We stayed at Ngoma lodge in March 2014,we agree with our fellow guest Don whose comments on Trip Advisor seem to cover all the main points, but we would like to further stress the wow factor of the initial vista which is awesome.
The Lodge is run very professionally and with a friendly atmosphere by John and Babs, the perfect mien host.
Stanley our guide made our safaris amusing and full of information.
Certainly this stay was the highlight of our tour of South Africa, Zambia and Botswana.

It's hard not to repeat what has already been said, so I will try my best....

Most of the cars/taxis in the region are pretty shabby, so when we were met at Kasane airport in a clean/new van, we knew things were about to lift up a notch, or two. The ride to the lodge takes about an hour and as you approach the property, you catch a glimpse of the view which will be your home for the next few days (we stayed 3 nights and felt that it might have been a bit rushed if we had only stayed for 2 nights). As you walk through the common area, your first thought is "wow!"

After standing on the deck for a minute or two, taking in the view, we are offered a drink. The tariff is all inclusive, so it's nice to know that you can have a water/soft drink/wine/beer, or spirit without being 'nickel and dimed' at every turn.

We visited at the end of March (at the end of the wet season), so the property was almost deserted. It some ways this was great, but I also feel that the place would be a buzz, should it be at full capacity (which is still only 16 people!!).

The weather for us, however, was perfect, so our game drives were conducted on nice, and quite warm, days. On the first night we were on our own, with one couple joining us for the second night, and a third couple on our last night. The ever changing mix of personalities (and nationalities) meant that each nights dinner was quite different.

As noted previously, the rooms are beautifully sited (we, too, saw giraffe ambling last our window early one morning and Elephant heading down to the water on another evening) and well appointed.

All of the staff are very well mannered and simply want you to have an enjoyable time whilst on site. The managers, John and Babs are great and our guide, Bevan, was very knowledgable and always took the time to explain things to us and answer our questions.

Only when you board the Ngoma boat for your afternoon cruise (in our case, on our own, but I'm sure there are rarely more than 8 people), do you appreciate the difference with larger scale lodges, when you pass by their boats, filled to the brim with 30+ people on board.

The personal service and level of calmness is really what makes you feel that you are somewhere special. I would not hesitate to recommending Ngoma to those who want take some time out of their busy lives, even if only for a few days.

Many thanks to Babs, John and the team for such a memorable trip, Stanley's knowledge of his subject is second to none, he was the most interesting and patient guide, we all learnt a great deal.
The lodge is beautiful, the pictures do not convey the atmosphere and magic of the place. Our highlight was watching the elephants grazing outside our room at 6.30am, so close we could have touched them, not to mention the lion prints, we missed the them stalking through the camp in the early hours!
We felt extremely welcome, and nothing was too much trouble for the team to make our stay relaxing and fun.

My husband and I just stayed for three nights at the Ngoma Safari Lodge at the end of our honeymoon and it was a wonderful way to end a most wonderful trip. Cathy and the rest of the staff took care of us in every way. We enjoyed romantic dinner under the Baobab tree one night and with the rest of the guests and Cathy another evening. Viewing the Sable, Impala, Giraffes, Warthogs, Elephants and more at their watering hole from our private plunge pool was a dream. Highly recommend!

We had the most wonderful experience in Ngoma Safari Lodge. When we arrived there we were treated to the most eclectic overlay of food. The luxurious rooms made the stay even more wonderful. The food was the best we have ever had on a safari. Our guide was very knowledgable and knew a lot about the animals, flora and fauna. There are lots of elephants in Chobe National Park. The managers made the stay really wonderful. The baobab tree in front of the lodge with hundreds of animals and the setting sun made it the most memorable sunset for us.We will back soon.
