“A part of me will always live in that beautiful Ngoma Lodge!”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

What a place! Each suite is a self-contained masterpiece and the glass wall in each room overlooks the river gorge from atop the cliff. The elephants and game wander by the lodge on their way to drink from the river below, and SO MANY ELEPHANTS! The game drives were astounding, with amazing views and terrific game-viewing. The food and service were outstanding.

Hi Lynn. Wow - that is so special to read. The bush certainly dose have that special feel and sometimes it just continues to live in you, well after you leave. We are so glad Ngoma could facilitate this experience. See you again soon!

I've traveled to 100+ countries, and have to say that this new lodge is one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed. The management was friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff was stellar - with a smile, a hello and an offer to help. We occupied 3 of the 10 rooms for our family of 5. Each room was a separate air-conditioned unit, with floor to ceiling views of the Chobe River and Namibia. The set-up of the room was excellent, very modern and comfortable. Great indoor and outdoor showers with a private plunge pool. We enjoyed our evenings around the fire pit. Meals were excellent, with the menu announced to us at the start of the meal. We did our game drives - morning and evening - directly into the park, which entailed a drive of between 10-30 minutes, depending on which part of the park we were visiting. The wildlife was rich, and the views were wonderful. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this Lodge! My family LOVED this Lodge.

Hi there. Thanks so much for your amazing review. To say that this is the nicest place you have stayed - anywhere - is an amazing compliment. We certainly put ourselves out to make sure that families love Ngoma, and it looks like you are no exception. When you say "The wildlife is rich and the views are wonderful" - that is a great summery of the Ngoma experience.

This lodge combines a magnificent setting with luxurious accommodation. The service is impeccable and up to high standards. We stayed for 4 nights and the camp manager did her utmost best to organize an interesting program. A boot trip, a picnic, game drives, night drive,... left us little time to relax at the pool, but that's how we liked it.
Why not a five star rating then? Compared to other places we stayed, there was less interaction with the staff and other guests ( eg separate tables in the dining room, guides did not have their meal with us) and with nature, as the chalets have windows which need to be closed at night.

Hi there in Belgium. We are very glad you enjoyed yourself at our lodge. Yes, we try to structure activities so that you are getting out and doing a lot of fun things, but also have time to relax and just enjoy your time in the African bush. I'm not sure the reasons you listed have an impact on our star rating, but I'm happy your overall stay was positive and enjoyable.

This is a tough one because the lodge and view from the lodge are world class. The owners and their hospitality is world class. The location of this lodge though is a pretty fair distance from the park. We spent more than an hour driving in a jeep on two different occasions. It also seemed to me that the number of activities available were just limited compared to the other safari lodge we had been to. Again, the owners did everything possible to make our stay great and the lodge is just spectacular.

Hi there. Thanks for your review of Ngoma. Having to drive to get to the best sightings is a factor, but then again - at least you know this is true wilderness! Otherwise, we are happy that everything else was a treat. Look forward to having you back.

Ngoma was our first stop for our African adventure, and it was a truly amazing place to start. I can't fault a single thing - Shumi our guide was first class, he went out of his way to make sure we saw the best things we could including a young female leopard dozing in a tree and a pack of lions grazing early in the morning. The rooms are stunning, beds are MASSIVE! we had the furthest room away, where the view was amazing, and what an experience to wake up and see Elephants and Giraffe pass your room! The food was Exceptional. I really cant fault anything or anyone. I hear they have now appointed plunge pools by every room - defiantly an excuse to go back! By far my most favourite place...

Thank you Hannah for such a glorious review of your Ngoma experience. Makes me truly appreciate how lucky we are to live and work here. Your comments will definitely inspire other guests to visit Ngoma as you are just so excited about it all - seeing a leopard and the lions was a real bonus and also it's just so thrilling to watch animals walk past your bedroom. Yes, the plunge pools are all in place and have been wonderfully appreciated by our guests...and also by the wildlife! Because they are fresh water pools we have had the odd late night visit by lions and elephants to drink out of the pools so we have had to enhance the security accordingly to ensure the total safety of our guests while they enjoy an amazing piece of authentic Africa.

The owners made sure we wanted for nothing. They had a "TV" in every room, consisting of a large picture window overlooking the Chobe River that we used to watch the big herds drinking every morning at sunrise. Bevan our game driver showed us the big 5 up close from the safety of our land rover, providing us with an excellent show and 5 star food and service and photo ops.

Hello Mark, you paint a vivid picture about the TV in every room....what a giant panoramic screen of nature you obviously relished. Thanks for the review and we're delighted that Ngoma transcended your expectations. As you say "seeing is believing" - it's the same sensation you get when viewing Victoria Falls for the first time. Ngoma Safari Lodge has to be seen to be believed! Nothing can compare with the experience of sitting on the verandah and watching the animals move across the landscape while enjoying a drink or even a meal. We loved that we could still enjoy the scenery while dining. We also loved how the bungalows were designed and didn't mind the short walk from the main lodge to our room. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff who were always friendly and even Synack (the manager) helped us safely pack our wooden giraffe so it made it home intact. The chefs, Paddington and Eva, did an outstanding job and catered well for food allergies. Thanks to Shumi, our ranger guide, we were able to see many amazing animals and he went to incredible lengths to try and find more lions for us to see. We would highly recommend this lodge for a truly fantastic experience.
