“Barely average”
Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

To say this is waterside dining is a stretch. The restaurants sits alongside a narrow canal used for docking small boats. The predominate view is of the parking lot for the boaters. There is a view of the Great South Bay in the distance but it is hardy an idyllic view. The outside dining area that I could see seemed very basic. It is a narrow stretch aside the canal. The tables were picnic tables of the type you would expect to find at a rest stop along I 95. The main dining was modest but neat, with large windows. The noise from the bar was a constant presence throughout the meal. We also had to ask to have the music level turned down. The service was basic. Our wish that the food would save the day was not to granted. While the appetizers of duck wings and New England clam chowder were good , the entrees were not. My grilled mahi mahi was dry and tasteless. My wife's filet mignon was overdone. We will not be repeat customers.

“Finally, A Great Place On The Water!”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

A huge problem with this area of Long Island is that there is NO good restaurants on the water (I'm looking at YOU BayVue/Lighthouse and Fatfish). Thank goodness Tres Palms opened...and then opened again (after getting trashed by Sandy).
To make this quick, the brunches are fantastic, dinner specials are always top notch, anything from the sea is expertly done and the tuna tacos are AMAZING! I would stay away from the lobster nachos (Guy Fieri territory) and the fish empanadas (the strong corn flavour of the empanada overpowers the delicate fish), but everything else can be recommended without reservations.
Plus, you can get here by boat and the bar is sunny and welcoming, just like the staff.

“Totally Enjoyable”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Several friends enjoyed an evening at Tres Palms recently and we all had to say what a treat it was. The service was topnotch, and very attentive yet not cloyingly so. The drinks were well handled and good sized while the food was excellent. Its not a broad menu but its listings provide the customer with a good cross section of items to choose from. More then enough to satisfy someones taste. Coffee and dessert, specially the flourless chocolate cake were excellent. A go-back-to location indeed.

“Gourmet Dining on the Great South Bay”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

I've had the pleasure of dining at this cozy, waterfront restaurant twice within the past month. Although it's a bit on the more expensive side, the food is top quality. The menu is on the small side, so you may want to see their menu online before you go...but they do have specials, which aren't listed on the web site.
Enjoy a drink before dinner with their warm foccacia bread,
The ambience is warm, candle-lit and there are fire places. The service is professional, attentive but not intrusive. Very nice people!
I recently enjoyed an entree of Seared Tuna Steak, which was coated with sesame seeds, seared to perfection on the outside and rare on the inside, sliced and served atop roasted vegetables with chipotle pepper sauce. Delightful! The tuna was pristinely fresh, the vegetables roasted al dente with a hint of sweetness. Combined with the sauce...I'm craving it now! It was very, very good. A side order of baked clams were delicious, although small, and the serving is only 5...6 would be much better.
Another evening I enjoyed a special--Shrimp Tempura served with fried risotto stuffed mushrooms, served atop a lovely mango-vegetable medley. The tempura was light and greasless, and the mushrooms were heavenly!
Enjoy a drink before dinner with their warm foccacia bread,
There is a bar area that is popular, and they have live music on various nights.
Definitely one of my favorite places to dine in Babylon.

“We Liked It!”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

Most of the reviews we read on this place were negative. Granted it is pricey but it is right on the water so that usually adds $4-$5 an entrée. In the winter, the premium charge doesn't make sense.
The service was very good and the food was above average for a typical water side restaurant. The decor is typical for something at a marina but should be upgraded to match the menu and quality of food. I'm not sure all of what we experienced would be as positive at the heart of the summer season.
The butternut squash soup was one of the best we have ever tried and the monk fish and sauce was a perfect combo. Don't sit in the room closest to the water when the weather is cold, pick one of the rooms with a fireplace.
