I booked this because it was the closest to the caverns and one of the cheaper motels in the area. Room was nice and clean, roomy. Only problem was beds were very stiff, but most Motels are! Breakfast was only 2 choices of muffins and Oj. But the kids didn't care they were just happy to be there

Got to hotel a little before 9p; keep in mind that Whites City is really, really small and the sidewalks roll up at 9p. If you want something to eat, you’d better get to town by about 8.30p or you will have to drive 20 minutes up the road to Carlsbad. Room was clean and quite large. TV was antiquated, but we didn't come here to watch TV, so who really cares. However, lots of channels considering the remote location. The beds were fine and the hotel was quiet on the night we spent there during spring break. Decor was dated and room was a bit worn out, but like I said, it was clean. The only issue was that the bathroom door wouldn't close. We only paid $95 on Expedia for a room with 2 queen beds. Considering you are only a ten minute drive from a major national part, I consider this a very good value. Breakfast consisted of packaged muffins and OJ, which was fine considering the room price and location.

Staff that we saw were all friendly and helpful. Room was big and clean with table and chairs, fridge, coffee pot (I washed it before use), microwave, and choice of ground floor or second floor - all outside door rooms. Shower was clean with plenty of towels. Breakfast is choice of two kinds of packaged muffins and a 4 oz. carton of orange juice. The only restaurant in "town" is a short walk, but closes early, had okay dinner food (nothing was really good or really bad) and took well over an hour to bring us simple breakfast - if you decide you want to stay in White City - you might want to bring food. At this motel, we ended up next to a family whose children galloped along the upstairs walkway and were bellowed at by the mother - all clearly heard through our closed door.

This hotel is good value for visiting the Carlsbad Caverns as compared to the hotels located in Carlsbad. Saves time to drive from Carlsbad. Room is spacious and clean. However, don't expect too much from the continental breakfast they serve.

We needed a pet friendly hotel and choose this one. The night clerk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and nice. Looks like many of the rooms are ungoing renovation, so they will be even better. It was quiet and there is a fridge and microwave in the room.

Someone mentioned lack of outlets in the room, we had that problem to.

There is a grassy area to take your dogs behind the hotel, please take a potty bag with you. If we want hotels to stay dog friendly we must pick up after our pets.

The breakfast of OJ, which wasn't great but they had Otis Spunkmeyer Muffins which we like. Keep in mind you are 20 miles from Carlsbad and there is nothing in this town, so eat in Carlsbad before checking in here. We do plan on staying here again, it worked for us. Thank you Rodeway Inn, we enjoyed our overnight stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed quiet. We travelled in the winter season, not much going on.

Close to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. White's City closes early arrive by 6:00 PM. One restaurant in town. Caverns are a MUST see - spectacular! Rooms were clean and roomy but mattress and pillows were very firm to hard.

I visited Carlsbad Caverns with a friend early in Jan 2013, and we were planning an overnight stay there. After reading the earlier reviews, we were apprehensive about staying here.
I checked the prices online, and found that with a military discount, our room (2 queens) would cost us about $70.00. I didn't want to make the drive into Carlsbad after being on the road all day, and this was a reasonable price, so we made the reservation.

After reading about renovations in the reviews below, I assume they are now complete, and we were very please with our room. The shower/tub was VERY clean, spotless like brand new. There was no mildew in the edges. The heater was quiet, and beds were comfy.

The only negative I can think of was the location of extra electrical outlets; there were none on the wall by the beds, and they all turn off/on with the light switch. Even the alarm clock was positioned on the other side of the room. (Big deal, right?) Wi-fi was pretty fast, but you might want to bring an extension cord if you like to surf the net in bed.

We had a fridge and microwave in the room, both were clean and functional. The location was right up the street from a good restaurant (I'll also leave a review there) that serves dinner and breakfast. Less than 15 minutes to the Caverns, walking distance to a decent restaurant, friendly staff, parking right in front of our room. We passed on the very fatty muffins for breakfast, but appreciated the OJ.

After an exhausting day exploring the Caverns, this was a nice place to relax, take a nap and then head back up for photographing the night sky. I'd stay here again and recommend the Rodeway Inn without a doubt.
