Only been here 24hours and already writing a review! Staff making us feel like kings and queens, and they so friendly, and make such good food! Our room has been delicately designed and retained all of its English heritage. Definitely worth a visit whilst in the western cape?

We stayed for two days, just about the right period of time. There were three of us and we were very grateful that the single person was not charged a supplement for her double room. The farmhouse has lots of character and atmosphere. The bedrooms comfortable, if rather small, and furnished with antiques. Bathrooms are excellent. There are three pretty lounges and also a wooden house by the lake where you can take tea or watch birds. Wi fi is good and free.
The food is really good and the only problem is how to resist the lovely cakes and scones at afternoon tea.
The countryside around is stunning. Don't expect to see much game but enjoy the birds and the tranquility not to mention the wonderful service.

Room Tip: There is a cottage for families or groups of friends.

We stayed there for three days and had a most wonderful time. The accomodation was traditional very high quality, with exceptional service. Their attention to detail was astonishing, without being "in your face". Food was cooked to order to the highest standards, and as you would expect, the wines were first class.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building - it is just superb.

We didn't know what to expect but we couldn't have imagined what a beautiful place this is, with fabulously comfortable rooms, helpful caring service, great food and all against the backdrop of majestic mountains. And don't miss out on the drives which were a highlight of our stay.

We have recently returned from a wonderful trip to South Africa and the high light was, once again, our stay at Bartholomeus Klip. We have been many times and loved it. It amazes us that each visit is better than the last. The warmth of the welcome from Lesley, Vicky and the wonderful staff always makes us feel as if we are coming home. The stunning setting, the calm and gentle pace of life is the best restorative we can think of. The morning and evening drives are always interesting and informative ( but don't expect the Big Five!), with their specialist breeding programmes and rare flora and fauna. Linda and the kitchen staff's wonderful food has gone from strength to strength. It's not just about maintaining standards but constantly striving to improve the whole experience for the guests. A truly unique place
