“Bartholomeus Klip - a quiet haven”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

We have recently returned from a wonderful trip to South Africa and the high light was, once again, our stay at Bartholomeus Klip. We have been many times and loved it. It amazes us that each visit is better than the last. The warmth of the welcome from Lesley, Vicky and the wonderful staff always makes us feel as if we are coming home. The stunning setting, the calm and gentle pace of life is the best restorative we can think of. The morning and evening drives are always interesting and informative ( but don't expect the Big Five!), with their specialist breeding programmes and rare flora and fauna. Linda and the kitchen staff's wonderful food has gone from strength to strength. It's not just about maintaining standards but constantly striving to improve the whole experience for the guests. A truly unique place

We have returned for our 4th time in 5 years and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were completely spoilt ! The same staff have always been there and are so welcoming , always smiling and Lesley who manages the Lodge is exceptional. It is the most relaxing evironment with stunning gardens and a beautiful reserve - game drives morning and evening included . The food was even better than usual . Nothing is too much trouble .
We have stayed in over 40 hotels in 9 years of travelling to South Africa and you will have to go a long way to beat this special place ! .

We have been visiting Bartholomeus Klip at least once a year (sometimes twice a year) for the last 9+ years. Over that extended time the staff and management have provided consistent high quality lodging with matching food, service and facilities. This lodge is highly recommended for all who seek a luxurious break with value for money.

Room Tip: The Orchid Suite provides a stunning view of the reserve and greater privacy than the other 4 equall...

We needed a little break away so booked ourselves into Bartholomeus Klip, our only disappointment was that we didn't stay longer. From the moment we arrived we felt home and completely relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were always smiling, even when they didn't think you could see them. The rooms are not huge, but just the right size, with all the comforts you would expect. The food is out of this world, their chef is just amazing!! One can easily add a couple kilos in one weekend - good thing there are bicycles to keep some at bay! They also include game drives (morning and evening), and for the more adventurous there are also canoes and windsurfs, so there's something for everyone. For me, Bartholomeus Klip is one of the most down-to-earth places I have ever had the pleasure of staying at and I hope to return again soon. Every aspect of this very unique and special farm is just top-class and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: There are four bedrooms located inside the main house, and then one spacious suite situated outside...

I had to attend the wedding of my little brother in nearby Riebeek Kasteel, the quick response to my reservation enquiry clinched my wanting to book at this renowned destination. I myself am in the industry and have heard plenty word of mouth reports, so was excited to be able to be treated as a guest for a change. My bed was the most confortable that I have ever slept in - I cannot stress this enough ! The staff, WOW !!! Words are not enough to express the level of attentiveness I experienced and I noted that nothing would of been a problem should I have wanted a specific need attended to. Bartholomeus Klip not only met my expectations but exceeded them. Kudos !

Room Tip: I stayed in "The Orchid Suite", which had its own verandah that looked out on the most ama...

We stayed at Bartholomeus Klip for 3 days and had a relaxing time. The accomodations were superb and the food was wonderful. We had a small breakfast early, brunch at 10, high tea at 3, sundowners at 6:30 and dinner at 7:30. The food was plentiful and delicious and the service impeciable. We hiked, rode mountain bikes, played croquet, and relaxed in between. We tried a variety of wines and foods. Altogether, a great place for our family to stay. We left a credit card there after checking out and they called us and met us to return it to us. That is great customer service.

Room Tip: Could hear the birds in the morning.
