I have been staying here for many years, I come back because the staff are always friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, and of the highest standard. This year we took a friend on her first visit to SA,who thought it was wonderfull.Leslie and Louise do an excellent job.

Visited Bart Klip again after some time to celebrate my wedding anniversary, and after my stay I kept asking myself why it had been so long since my last visit!

I was once again blown away by the completely faultless stay i had, from the booking to my ultimate departure.

One day spent at this place always feels like at least 3 days, so if you are after ultimate relaxation this is the place for you, no TV's, no noise, just quiet, sublime food and one of the best pools in the world, a converted old resevoir!

For a more detailed account of this place see my prior review, i would not change a single thing since my old review, except this time i did not stay in the suite, but stayed in one of the rooms in the main house and safe to say, it was amazing too.

For me the points that set this place place apart are as follows:

1) amazing service, without smothering you, the team there are awesome and always willing to help
2) excellent food, NB you will gain weight just after a day there! ps the only fault i experienced on my recent stay, was that the Lobster that formed part of my dinner main, was not properly cleaned and was somewhat gritty....a small blemish on an otherwise impeccable report card.
3) the amazing pool (i cant overemphasise this)
4) the feeling that you away from it all in spite of only being a hour and a half out of Cape Town

The only comment i must add is that every time we have been there we are inevitably the youngest couple there amongst guests that are typically over the age of 60 and either from Northern Europe or the UK, but this is not a deterrent for me, it just adds to the quiet!

Had a spendid time and would return in an eye wink.

Negatives:

-gritty lobster!
-Not the best value for money for SA locals (but when considered within the context of all the meals, may make some sense)
- May be boring for some, but hey this is a relaxation retreat!

Room Tip: The suite is best but any room in the main house will do just as well

Bartholomeus Klip so conveniently situated to Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, yet a serene tranquil haven of fine hospitality in a glorious scenic setting remains a favourite with discerning South African and international travellers. We again loved our stay on this beautiful farm, with warm, welcoming and efficient staff, beautiful surrounds, fine cuisine and wine, and the option of a relaxed stay with a variety of options to enjoy from walks to biking, boating to game drives.

Room Tip: The suite separate from the main house, offrers space, privacy and lovely views

We stayed at the charming Wild Olive House, a separate 3 bedroom cottage with own garden and swimming pool and very private. We enjoyed all our meals at the Farmhouse. You have the option to rent this cottage on a self catering basis or on a full board basis. The game drives was very interesting and informative we have learned a lot about the Renosterveld and geometric tortoises. I have to disagree with the previous review regarding the food options. When we made our booking we had to inform Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse about our dietary requirements. During High Tea in the afternoon the evening's menu was discussed with every patron to check if they eat everything that was offered on the menu. It there was something on the menu that you did not like an alternative was offered. The food was gastronomic and only the freshest ingredients is used. The Homestead have a colonial feel and the standards of service are impeccable. Beautiful gardens and tranquil setting. Only about an hour's drive from Cape Town.

Room Tip: Request the Wild Olive House, spacious and very private

We escaped the city for 1 night of luxury. Service and the room and setting were great.
Dinner could have been better. There should have been another one or two choices on the menu because the two main courses on offer might not be to everyone's taste.
Breakfast and high tea were great

Having spent 5 nights at Bartholomeus Klip, we found that it exceeded all our expectations. It is difficult to describe a luxury guest house on a farm which, at the same time as offering safaris twice a day, offers 5 star comfort and level of service. To make it even more attractive, the food is imaginative and plentiful. The brunch buffet is exceptional, high tea is generous and dinner is a gourmet meal. Every member of staff is extremely attentive with great attention to details from the ponchos provided for the safari to flowers, biscuits and drinks provided in the bedroom. We look forward to experiencing it all again soon.

Room Tip: The 5 rooms are all very nice however the suite with its own terrace has more privacy and it also ov...
