Where do i begin? Never again. No welcome on arrival, no service at bar even with barman standing in the bar. Took us 40min just to get drinks and we had to walk up to barman and make a statement before they assisted.
At dinner.....well, we never got there....took us to go and ask for menus.....never seen a waiter.......paid our drinks and left because by 9pm we never had a waiter.

I work in the hospitality industry and this experience was beyond bad.......

What this hotel needs is some imagination and style, which you see so much of at other hotels in South Africa. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms big and with good aircon, essential in this hot town, but the walls are all a drab ochre, the poolside furniture is tired - it all seems rather unloved. And the worst of all, an open plan toilet in our bedroom! Whoever thought that was a good idea!

Please note that I am only rating their kitchen. First of all...its the only restaurant open in Clanwilliam on a Sunday evening...you would think that for the price of the food items on the menu, it should be something amazing. Not a chance...not only do you wait for over an hour but the food arrives cold, overcooked and underportioned. An absolute tragedy.

This lodge has so much potential, if only it had the right management to take charge of the place. Arriving at the lodge they put us in a room with no phone, out of 32 rooms, this is the best they can do!! The room is very very small, not so pleasant to stay in. The staff is ok, they help where they can although they need more training on how to deal with customers. We loved the food, the chef went the extra mile for that. The pool was dirty, no one took the initiative to clean it and seeing it was hot day we had to make use of it regardless. On our first night of dinner, the electricity went off (luckily after we ate), only the waiter came over to apologize for the inconvenience. The lady who I assume is the manager (as she never spoke to us during our whole stay) was just walking around asking the staff whats going on. The breakfast was average as there was no variety and they didn't even have milk when the other milk was sour. They offer spa treatments but when I wanted to make a booking Zelda told me the therapist wont be able to do it. Overall our stay was average and we will not return nor recommend it to anyone.

We recently stayed here for a cycling weekend. The staff were friendly- a bit slow but fine. The restaurant had a few other guests on this evening. We were a group of 12 people and at least half of us had to send our food back as it was cold. Generally speaking the quality of the food was poor! I think the Lodge has a lot of potential but definitely lacks in management. Would be nice if the owners can re- energize this lodge.

If you are looking for a central, comfortable and friendly place to stay the this is the place to be. The rooms are clean and spacious with a bed that is truly quality ensuring a good nights rest.

The swimming setting is very nice and inviting. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim.

The biggest plus for the lodge is the staff. They definitely know the meaning of service excellence. From the ladies at the front desk to the cleaning staff to the waiters, everyone serves with a smile and are willing to go the extra mile.

Passing through or staying for a few days, it is definitely worthwhile.

I would highly recommend it as a base to explore the surrounding area.

We are here for the second time so it cannot be too bad. The staff are very friendly and the new management are doing an improvement regime. Would return again. The only problem was the weather, no really warm or dry enough, but even the management cannot control that. Although Obi did try!
