Another pleasant surprise in what was threatening to be a dissapointing Barrydale, this gem sits on the R62 nestled inbetween shops and restaurants. A golden labrador with a ball that needs to be thrown greeted us and proceeded to exercise my friend (who needed it after the long drive to Ronnies Sex Shop) The owner was quietly watering the lawn which was lovely and green in the late afternoon heat of the Karoo. The modern bar area with pool tables, big screen sports TV and lovely outdoor seating with a view over the mountains was inviting. The barman was friendly and helpful, but failed to tell us they served food, perhaps because I said I was looking for a restaurant that served lamb ? The pool and accommodation appeared very nice for a backpackers and I would certainly recommend it. It was early but other people started to arrive just as we were leaving and I imagine it would be very vibey later on. Well worth a stop !
