This a great place to stop for lunch or a snack on the R62 between Ashton and Calitzdorp. It's just west of Barrydale and the turn to the scenic Tradouw Pass, so also well situated if you are taking the road across the Pass to or from Heidelburg on the N2.

This is a working wine farm producing quality whites and reds and there is a pleasant tasting room where you can try the wines. The restaurant has the feel of a taverna and you can sit outside and enjoy the view or inside if it's cold. The food is excellent - we shared a Karoo Tapas Plate which was enough for 2 of us - great selection of cheeses, salads, breads, humus, bobotie, spinach and cheese pie, pate, chicken wings and more.. All washed down with a glass of one of the Tradouw Joubert wines - we had the Syrah which matched the food well. We have driven the R62 many times and there is no better place to stop.

Advised by friends to go. Weren't disappointed. R62 platter for 2 fed two adults and two small children. Cold meats, cheeses, chicken wings, olive tapenade, chicken livers, homemade bread and crisp, fresh, herby salad. Food was delicious and setting could have been in France.

Not a busy vibey spot but a romantic, relaxing, value for money alternative.

We stopped for a tasting and stayed for a light meal. Eminently pleasant environment, with reasonable French-influenced wines and satisfying mixed plates of local charcuterie, cheeses, salads, etc. Exactly what one wants in the Western Cape, but is all-too difficult to find. Well worth a visit.

Lovely setting under the vines (Au Provenance in ZA) The food however needs to improve I had Ostrich Tag and wife had the platter the Ostrich on both plates was like boot leather. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said that is what Ostrich is like!!! Having cooked Ostrich many times myself I found this hard to believe needless to say we will not rush back

Stopped for lunch on our way to George and had the best shared platter ever. Well worth a visit!! Fresh delicious and paired with their own Chardonnay!
