Description: UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT: The Jam Tarts Barrydale has a whole new look. New thin crust pizzas in our wood fired oven. Mina's famous Malay lamb curry; Venison and chicken pies; famous baguettes; Bobotie. We are fully licensed and as a result make fabulously naughty milkshakes. We look forward to giving you a friendly Karoo welcome.

We absolutely love the pizzas at the Jam tarts. In fact we drive out of our way to stop over and have a meal. We have been a few times and have never been disappointed, generous portions, lots of flavour, great service and great value for money.

Great varied menu and really quirky fun atmosphere eating in the jam and pickle shop. Great friendly service and the venison stew was amazing. Highly recommended if you go to Barrydale.

My wife and I were doing tour guide market research this week.

As our usual deli was closed , I followed some trip advisor recommendations on the main R 62

My venison stew was laced with red wine and served with rice and sweet potatoes.

Topped with a good coffee, I was entirely satisfied, as was my partner of 42 years with her bean and meat soup, which was served with a home made olive Ciabatta bread.

Wholesome, fresh, a lot of local home grown ingredients used in meals. Well prepared and generous portions, good service with a smile. Retail of local produce, jams, honey, biscuits and edibles. Relaxing atmosphere inside and outside. Genuine hospitality...generously shared by the owners.

We arrived at Barrydale late in the afternoon and hungry. We couldn't find anywhere to eat, but was recommended Jam Tart by the lady on reception at the Barrydale Karoo Hotel. It was a hot summers afternoon, but we got a nice table in the shade. We had a small lunch, but the food was very nice and good value. The young waitress was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely look in again if we're back on the Route 62.
