This Restaurant is well worth a visit for their famous curries. We had the Moroccan lamb Rooti and Lamb Burger - both excellent. Everthing on the plate , including chips , salads and garnishings, is tasty and made with great care. Unfortunately the Restaurant is looking a bit sad and could do with some TLC - potplants all wilted and dead and wooden benches so warped and weathered that some are unusable. Unfortunately this detracts somewhat from the whole experience.

Mike Clarke's Clark of the Karoo Restaurant on the R62 in Barrydale is well worth a visit. Mike has an interesting and varied menu and drives to Cape Town specifically to get fresh fish for his customers.

This man sure knows how to cook! Our lunch here was one of the best of our entire trip in South Africa. The flavours are very well balanced and original, without becoming too complicated or pretentious. We loved the fruit amuse. My husband loved that the salad dressing came in a Grolsch beer brace bottle (original presentation) and was very tasty as well. The menu consists both of original dishes (such as the moroccan lamb roti that we had, which was absolutely delicious), but also dishes you will find in many more establishments such as burgers and fried hake. We would definitely recommend this place if you were to travel through Barrydale along Route 62! The delicatessen shop inside is also worth a visit. The sticky date, pecan, apricot cookies were a lifesaver on the delayed plane back home :-)

A terrific surprise. We will definitely stop there again on our way through. Can you imagine having great calamari in the middle of the Kline Karoo? Stop here and you will---or something just as good. And what a lovely treat with the fresh, cold fruit when you arrive.

A nice stop when going through the Karoo. Food was good and the menu was quite extensive or at least it looked that way strewn about a couple of chalkboards. Things like lamb burgers, salads, fish cakes and homemade ginger beer. The owner is very friendly and chatty, you can tell he really cares about what he does. The only thing I would say is that the place can come across as trying to be something it doesn't have to be. They served an amusee of fruit skewers at lunch - nice thought, but not necessary nor expected when you hop out of your car for some home cooked food right off the main drag. Better they leave it simple and focus on what they can do great rather than try to be something they are not.
