We stayed here for our anniversary and our visit was met with outstanding hospitality, service and care. The waiters Simon and Lucas were exceptional and attended to us as if we were the only people there.
We were met outside by Lucas to receive our luggage and a personal welcome by the duty manager. Formalities completed, we were shown our room where a personal letter addressed to us awaited our arrival.
The Stag and Crown bar on site was empty, yet Simon made an effort to make sure we were comfortable and lit the fireplace. Dinner started only at 7pm but we were offered snacks on the house and starters at 6pm. Dinner was outstanding and our conclusion drinks in the bar was met with professionalism.
In the mean time, our room was turned down, with flower petals, candles and our lit fireplace with a mountain of wood.
Breakfast was again served to super standards and we were escorted by the duty manager on our departure. This was an outstanding one night break at The Highlander.

We arrived late on Saturday evening and fortunate enough were sent to the Highlander for the evenings accommodation. What a lovely treat, the room was spotless and very large with a private balcony which we only had the privledge of drinking coffee on the following morning. The staff and finer detail given to the people residing at the lodge was amazing, after a gourmet dinner, we returned to a room with a turned down bed, hot blankets had warmed this for us, fireplace lit, and under floor heating switched on in the bathroom. I had spent the previous evening at a Guvon resort and feel this Lodge really goes the extra mile and stand out above the rest. The staff at breakfast once again were full of smiles starting off any persons day on such a lovely note, breakfast was a delight and after checking out found our vehicle had been washed. I can not wait to return and stay over in this well furnished and upmarket lodge where gardens are perfectly manicured and finer detail entails the emblem on the dining room carpeting and exquisite embroided serviettes. This lodge makes one feel like a king or queen.

The grounds in which The Highlander resided was very extensive and the rooms were very spacious, most with a second floor containing additional beds. The staff were very friendly and throughout my time built a very good rapport with our server. Although the menu was limited and, on occasion repetitive, the food was quite appetizing...prepare to be serenaded by a five track playlist on repeat while you enjoy your evening meal :o) Overall pleasant experience, hats off to The Highlander for washing our rental car!

My first contact with the hotel was via Cindy and I was impressed by her friendliness and efficiency. I mentioned that valentines day coincides with our wedding anniversary.... and the reaction was amazing!

We arrived to a room with champagne and flowers. Dinner was in a separate and private room from other guests, complete with rose-petals and candles everywhere! Our waiter John made it his mission to spoil us whenever he could for the duration of the weekend. On returning to our room, every night, we found a romantic atmosphere of 21candles and rose-petals everywhere as well as a roaring log fire. What a romantic atmosphere!!!

When enquiring about recommended restaurants Cindy readily had contact names and numbers and even made appointments on our behalf.

The hotel was recently taken over by new management and they are certainly excelling in ensuring the guests are 100% satisfied. The food was also very well presented, delicious and ample. The rooms are clean, well equipped and homely.

Cindy, John and the hotel staff cannot be complimented highly enough and our weekend was truly memorable.

Even our vehicle was washed and sparkling, ready to explore Dullstroom.... apparently all part of the service!! Amazing!

The Highlander Country Retreat is certainly highly recommended!
