We think we went at the worst time of year when the birds are not in their usual numbers however, if you are an avid birder, then this place is for you. We stayed 2 nights in a chalet and then had to move and do 2 nights camping which we should have done in the first place - huge fun!! We had all new gear to try out which worked like a dream but the VERY BEST THING about the camping site, is that it was back to the old way of camping in terms of etiquette. We are so sick and tired of going to Kruger Park, namely Skukuza Camp and people arriving there with guns ablazing, radios turned up, rowdy drinking parties at night and just general inconsiderateness. Ndumo camping and Ndumo Park itself, is the best for absolute quiet. The water birds at the one hide were phenomenal and we managed to chalk up quite a few we have never seen, but not before a long debate about each one. This is what being in the bush is about: observing, listening, looking and learning!! Like-minded people go to Ndumo and it is truly a place for the old-school campers and birders. We will gladly make the very long trip there time and again. The park is well maintained all round, from removing aliens to the state of the roads to the accommodation sites and ablutions. The chalets are a wonderful treat - just like the good old days. Full marks Ndumo, you have managed to keep things exactly the way they should be!!
