“A Piece of History”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

A delightful treat along Route 66, the Blue Swallow Motel is a throwback to earlier, simpler times. The restored rooms harken back to the golden days of Route 66, and the owners are warm and friendly, making you feel like guests in their home. Rooms are clean and neat, and attractively decorated --- each room with a theme. And the rooms have small garages, perfect for motorcycles, or small cars.

It may not be for everyone, though: if your tastes run to fancy surroundings and roomy bathrooms, you may find the rooms a bit cramped. But anyone with a sense of history, or an appreciation for the charm that nostaligia can bring will find the stay a wonderful treat.

A step back in time. The only thing that was not right out of the 50's and 60's was the color TV. 11 nights on the vacation road, and out of all the Hotels we stayed in the Blue Swallow MOTEL(Motor Hotel) was absolutely the most relaxing. Kevin, the owner was super nice and directed us to the local feed store for BBQ Lunch which I must say was very good and a super fun place to visit. I would recommend this MOTEL to everyone. No swimming pool, No video games, no exercise room Remember, this MOTEL is right out of the 50's Neon Lights and all.

Room Tip: Be sure and call ahead for reservations, rooms go fast

Brought the family this time and stayed in the family suite (rooms 7 & 8) for two days. Once again best nights sleep ever! The beds are the most comfortable, great sheets and bedspreads. Also the towels are not your typical motel towels. If you like Route 66 you HAVE TO stay here! Kevin & Nancy treat you like friends and believe me before your stay is over you'll be friends.

Room Tip: You will enjoy any room. If you have a family I would choose the family suite. The Lilian Redman s...

Was driving from the east coast out to California and this was one of our favorite stops. Awesome owners (who were very understanding of our late arrival), beautifully restored rooms, and altogether a very enjoyable experience! Everyone who was staying there gathered outside in the evenings for drinks and conversations, which we assume happens frequently. Make this one of your stops, you will not be disappointed!

After a staying in a number of Motels in my life, I approached this one with some reservations. What a pleasant surprise. It was clean, comfortable, everyone was exceptionally friendly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

A RT-66 icon. Charming place and a fun stay Some rooms have a garage. . Old and small but the owners have done a great job of updating. Hi-thread count linen, big fluffy towels. Has Wifi, comfortable beds. Kevin, the owner is friendly and helpful. Directed us to a very nice restaurant down the street. No pool but I had to rated it because this form doesn't have a N/A category.

Authentic, spotless, friendly and with THE best welcome.
Being from the UK, one thing I had been missing was a good cup of tea - until we arrived at The Blue Swallow. Nancy knows how to satisfy the English taste for tea.
Sadly we could only stay one night but we were so glad we had booked well in advance, we wouldn't have missed the experience for the world. Our stay at The Blue Swallow was truly one of the hi-lights of our entire Route 66 trip from Chicago to Santa Monica.
