This is where it's at! Enough with the chain hotels...this place has all the nostalgia that you need to rejuvenate and head down the highway! It was our fist experience on "Route 66" and so happy we chose to include Blue Swallow to be part of it! We will be back!

We were traveling cross country on a tour of the southwest and this is by far my favorite of all the places we stayed at. First and foremost the owners are super friendly people who love owning this place. We had our dog with us and they accept dogs. It's a fully maintained and restored Route 66 treasure. The room was very nicely furnished with period touches, including a 1951 National Geographic, an old radio and a 1939 rotary phone. The room was super clean and heated well in the cold winter. I would highly recommend this for a travel experience. The owners live on site and also have two cute dogs and a white kitty. They made us coffee before we were back on the road and it was great to meet them and see that they are saving a historic part of Route 66 for future generations to enjoy.

Room Tip: Check out the old 1976 Pacer on site.

This was by far the best place we stayed on our vacation. There was no indoor swimming pool or room service or payper view movies and we didnt care!!! This was like the places that my family would stay when I was a kid and I loved it! The owners were super nice and took the time to talk to us. How many places can you honestly say that the owner took the time to make sure your stay was as nice as it could be. Also, how many owners are willing to stop what they are doing and take a picture of you and your wife so that you will have something to remember the place by.......none that I've ever meet... until now. The beds were super comfortable and the place was QUIET!!!! If your looking for a 5 star hotel where you can have a swedish lady named Helga give you a chemical peel, then this place isnt for you. If your looking for a trip down memory lane where the beds are comfy and the people are like family then this place is for you!

Room Tip: They sell the plastic room key chain in the office. We bought our room # that we stayed in and made...

The Blue Swallow is a blast from the past - beautiful neon signage, original tile in bathroom. Nancy, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea were provided in the office. The room rate was adjusted for low season to only $55. It felt like we were transported to a different era of the 1950's. Staying at the Blue Swallow was a great way to relieve the boredom of interstate driving and it was only a few minutes off the I-40 exit.

The best "motel" experience I've ever had. Owners super friendly and concerned that everything would be perfect. Wouldn't check us in until we'd seen the room and made sure it was up to our standards. We were in the pet friendly room and it was incredibly clean and beautifully decorated with antiques and memorabilia. Upgraded, luxury hotel grade mattress, sheets, towels and toiletries. The owners share information about the history, how the motel has been restored, the area. Their enthusiasm and love of this motel is evident. Everything was just about perfect down to the chenille bedspread with it's Blue Swallow!!!

Enjoyed our brief stay during a quick cross-country drive. The staff was friendly and helpful. We appreciated the recommendation for the Kix on 66 restaurant for breakfast--good stuff!
