Our stay was incredibly enjoyable, and one we won't soon forget. In a week on the road, we spent 5 nights in chain motels, and 1 night at the Blue Swallow. All the other hotels blend together, we turned the wrong way off the elevator a couple times... Our night at the Blue Swallow was the only night that stood out. I will stay there whenever I am in the area! The room was very clean, and period authentic. There are murals painted in all of the garages, we had room #2, which had some of the characters from the Pixar movie "Cars". They have free WiFi. A great hotel, and especially beautiful at night when all of the neon is going!

Room Tip: Rates are cheaper if you pay cash.

There is simply nothing like a stay at the Blue Swallow. Sitting in the courtyard under the glow of the neon lights on a warm evening, chatting with fellow guests about their adventures on the mother road, there is something almost surreal about this experience, and how it brings people together, if only for a brief time. Bill and Terri are a delight, and their love of this place is evident in the care, maintenance, and preservation of this one-of-a-kind. Sure there are other places around that try to play on the Route 66 experience, but none of them can satisfy like the Blue Swallow. Absolutely love the place! Thanks!

Room Tip: Make a reservation and plan to arrive early!

I did route 66 and this was by far the best place I stayed. Friendly owners gave us advise on local places to visit and even let us put our beers in their fridge. The rooms were great comfy and clean , would highly recommend to any traveller.

Bill & Terry are spectacular hosts! They make every one feel like they are right at home. They have been kind enough to host our Annual Tucumcari Ride & BBQ every Memorial Weekend. My husband and I were married at their motel in 2008.

They are considered to be a great friend by all that stop in -- no matter how many nights you stay! Their place gets 5 STARS and 2 THUMBS UP!

We drove Rt. 66 this fall and, of course, had to stay at the Blue Swallow. It is one of those "must stops" on historic Rt. 66. It was a fun stay. Clean, comfortable, quirky. Be sure to call for reservations. They are very popular with the Mother Road crowd.

Stayed for one night whilst travelling route 66 as it is "An icon on this route." I felt the room could have offered a bit more comfort, ie a fridge to combat warm beer ect & a coffee maker....the room price was the same as other places on the strip offering these basic requirements & more...The crowning glory was a large jar with a slot in the top on the reception counter asking for neon donations......The iconic neon incidentally was turned on for just 2 hours at dusk.....Also the free WiFi didn't work, could be a better deal!

In August we took a 5400 mile trip across the country with our 2 year old twins and 12 year old daughter. We quickly discovered that hotels often don't allow families of 5! We luckily called the Blue Swallow and they not only accomodated us but had a wonderful family suite that had two bedrooms connected by a small hall with a bath. I can honestly say out of a two week trip this had to be one of the nicest set ups for us not to mention perfectly clean and very charming! We loved that we didn't have to load all our stuff through a hotel with kids in tow and that we could sit outside under the nice night sky right outside our door with the baby monitor in hand. We didn't have to go to bed when the kids did because they had their own room. It was such a great place to stay and we would definitely recommend it and stay there again. Bill and his wife were great hosts. All in all I can't find anything to complain about!
