We were amazed at the Dinosaur Museum. The exhibits are excellent and unique. The unique part is that they have recreated the fossilized bones and such with bronze. Absolutely stunning. Very interactive - - you can touch real fossils and watch people work in the lab. There is a lot for kids to do. We were both impressed.

We recently moved to NM, so we wanted to get out and see things around the state. We had heard about there being an awesome dinosaur museum in Tucumcari, but we were sort of doubtful about the quality, it being in such a small place. Boy, we were wrong!

You walk into the giftshop, which is FULL of treasures. I, being a rock hound, purchased a ton of rocks, minerals, and gems. My kids all found toys and entertainment for the road and memories, and my husband, the scholar, purchased some books!

The museum itself was set up very well. I was designed very clean, easy to walk around, and there was no shortage of exciting and fascinating things to look at. he displays were amazing, so many things that I have not seen elsewhere. Once you were in the museum, you could actually drift away in your mind and imagine you were in a nice big city somewhere... it was that high quality.

There were a lot of "touching" exhibits, set around where you could feel the textures of things. There was a Kid's Area about midway through that this mother was grateful for, with a fussy toddler! They had a pit set up to dig up dino bones! WARNING: the stuff you dig in is walnut shells, which eliminates kids with food allergies! But we don't have food allergies, so it was awesome. There was a station set up to do rubbings of fossils, connect the bone puzzles, and even a fun dino with a saddle perfect for silly photo ops.

I am going to highly recommend this to people that we know. It was totally worth the drive to Tucumcari!

It's a small place but the stuff they have is amazing! I really liked that a lot of the exhibits they had you could touch, which made it a million times better!
