I've been eating at La Cocina for over 30 yrs. Past few years it seems to have really gone downhill. My husband's "usual" is chicken fried steak. Two of last 3 visits, the steak was grossly undercooked (once it was actually still frozen, tonight it was cold and raw in the middle). The first time this happened, he sent it back for a replacement, which was prepared correctly. Tonite, he sent it back and came home. Needless to say, we won't be going back again. What a waste of what was supposed to be a fun dinner out.

This is one our favorites in this area. This is a Mexican Food Restaurant but they have very good American items as well including a wonderful steak sandwich, country fried steak and prime rib! I love their margarita's, made with wine!

We have eaten at this restaurant before a few years ago when we were traveling through town and were looking forward to coming back. We were so disappointed when we came back. Something happened - either new owners or a new cook.

Here's what we experienced. The chips and salsa were complimentary; the chips were very greasy and half the bowl of chips was crumbs. The salsa was really thick and didn't have a lot of flavor; it did not taste home made. (The last time we ate there we liked the salsa and chips so much that we stopped and bought some on our way back from our trip as we drove through town.)

We ordered enchiladas and they were o.k. So were the beans and rice - just not anything special. We usually like sopapillas for dessert. Thank goodness the waitress told us that the sopapillas are really good size so we just ordered one and split it. She was right - this one was good sized but it was mostly air and the outside was really greasy, too.

So sorry to have to give this kind of a review for what used to be a really good place to eat.

This place was great!! Staff was friendly, portions were huge, (and I am a big guy) ,the mexican food was spicy just the way Iike it. Red and green Chile that you can have on anything. I ate there several evenings while visiting and tried a variety of the food. The steaks were cooked to order and the staff would easily accommodate any of your requests. Don't miss it.

If you can't have everything, we would take good service and average food over bad service and good food. We received bad service and below average food. I am also a margarita drinker and they offered only beer and wine so the margarita was basically a wine cooler so I opted for ONE beer because that is the only one that could be mustered up. The place was not even busy. That wouldn't have been so bad but we were there a LONG time waiting on food. My husband orders chicken fajitas at every Mexican restaurant. They were $15 and he was still hungry. We would not return.
