“Everything's Relaxing---Except the Beds!”
Reviewed April 5, 2010

We stayed here for one night over the weekend. Although we had called ahead to schedule our 30 minute soaks, we had to re-schedule these when we checked in. Despite this mix-up, nearly everyone we encountered in the staff was incredibly helpful and allowed us to relax and chill out. The hot springs rooms and all the spa treatments are closed off from the rest of the lodge. That provided a sense of privacy and seclusion when we did our soaks. We didn't make use of any of the other spa treatments, but now that we've been there, I probably would. Our room was clean and nice, however the bed, pillows, and chairs provided were HARD HARD HARD. This detracted from the relaxing, healing quality of the hot springs soaks. Both days, we got an indoor hot spring tub with a door opening up to the outdoors. I think this gave access to the cooler outside air, with an added privacy that I think the outdoor tub may lack. The balcony is shared with everyone with rooms on that side of the building. The neon sign for the lodge is also right above the balcony, which also dampens any kind of romantic feel or stargazing.

Sadly, the Lodge does not currently have a chef, so its restaurant is closed. We enjoyed the nearby Italian restaurant Bella Luca for dinner (a nice 2 block walk) for both dinner and lunch the next day. The continental breakfast had toast, english muffins, some wonderful yogurt and homemade granola, hardboiled eggs, and some homemade organic (possibly vegan) muffins and scones.

We are looking forward to staying here again, but will most likely bring our own pillows.

This was my first visit to Sierra Grande but will not be my last! Less than two hours' drive from El Paso, it is a perfect weekend getaway with a spouse or a group of girlfriends. There isn't a lot going on in town, so bring plenty of books and prepare to while away the hours. The spa services are varied and wonderful, the soaking pools clean and comfortable. The sofa sleeper is the only area that needs improvement as it wasn't comfortable for two, but my teens were able to make do! A tour of the Spaceport was an added bonus we all enjoyed - John is an excellent tour guide!

On our way home we decided to stop in Truth or Consequences New Mexico for the night. Much to our surprise, we made a reservation at one of the most spectacular spa/hotels we have been privileged to stay. The Sierra Grande was an unexpected oasis in the midst of a long, long drive. The accommodations were beyond spectacular, the soaking baths were absolutely beautiful and the staff was just like family. What a wonderful, beautiful, and relaxing stop in the midst of our journey. Breakfast in the morning was to die for. We will surely make this a destination experience from now on. Thank you Sierra Grande!!

Beautiful hotel. Small but clean and comfortable rooms. The hot spring soaks were amazing! Bad cell phone reception is probably the only downside but that seems to be across the board in Truth Or Consequences.

This hotel is in a quiet location but close to downtown and a great place to eat (Happy Belly Deli).

The place is beautifully remodeled. The staff made us feel like we were the only lodgers in the place and offered great insight into local attractions and restaurants. The tubs are exquisitely kept. The homemade continental breakfast was a delight. I wish I could move in permanently. The best vacation we've had since our honeymoon cruise 13 years ago. Don't delay, book a room and go.

Your Lodge just says "relax and enjoy" as you pull into the parking lot. Your staff was awesome, so very friendly and informative. Rooms are delightful and of course the soaks are out of this world. Thank you for all of your great service, including the great selection at breakfast. Marijo Balmer

The furnishings are tasteful. The mattress on the bed firm with a comfy pillow-top. The staff is friendly and helpful. The indoor and outdoor private pools are a delight. Everything is spic and span. The breakfast is healthy , with many homemade choices, along with fresh fruit. We loved everything about Sierra Grande. A great restaurant 2 blocks away, the Cafe Bella Luca, which has a range of prices for any pocket book.
