“Old Style Motel with clean rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

Staying here is like a step back in time, and that's not a bad thing sometimes. It is reasonably priced and the rooms were clean. There are eating options in walking distance and parking is no problem. It can get a little noisy from the Bowling Alley located behind the property but it is stall a good value.

I travel for work with a limit on daily expenses so I have to look for a place to stay that's inexpensive but clean and comfortable. The great reviews for Oasis Trip Advisor, and the colorful room names and description on their web site, had me hoping for such a place.

When I arrived mid-afternoon, reception was closed; a sign on the door, addressed to me, told me to call a number and someone would be there in 5 minutes. Fortunately, I had a mobile phone so I could make the call. (I think only one other room was occupied that day.)

My room (#9) is small and plain. There is a small refrigerator, a microwave, a bed, some drawers, a flat screen TV. There is one chair, a recliner (with torn arms). No desk or table so no place to put my computer, or to eat if I bring in food to microwave. The room is shabby but clean. No baseboard, and the plaster is broken at several places. No clock, no phone, no pictures, no radio, no hangers in the closet. The bathroom is cramped (toilet bowel is round rather than elongated, and barely leaves knee room to the wall) but clean, shower only. I don't know if breakfast is included and, if it is, where it would be served; certainly not in the tiny reception area.

So, it's less expensive than other places but you get what you pay for. With the spare furnishings, and if there's no breakfast, it might not be that much of a saving over someplace more expensive.

I absolutely love staying here. I feel spoiled by the owner, she is very friendly and gave me a beautiful large room to stay in and what I really liked is that I could actually smell softner on her towels, something I am very picky about. Its very clean, cozy and great for the price. I will always stay there when Im in town on business from now on.

The Oasis doesn't purport to be anything other than what it is. It is a clean and comfortable place to lay your head down. The exterior has a very southwestern appearance and the neon "office" sign is evocative of an earlier age. The room was very comfortable and cool, so much so that I didn't need to use the air conditioning. The towels provided were softer than the ones i had in a four star Santa Fe hotel the previous night. There are places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. The owners, a mother and daughter, are very pleasant and helpful. All in all, if you are in T or C this is a good place to stay and very reasonably priced.

(My favorite title). We stay at a variety of places, high to low on the spectrum. Most, like this one, are in the middle, what is called "budget." The Oasis had a jumpy little dog at reception, the kind that scratches your bare legs with its nails, but not inherently a bad fellow--just needs a few more manners. (To the credit of Management, he was a shelter adoptee). Our room was immense, dark and cool (all virtues in the SW), with ceiling fan. Floor was dirty but bathroom spotless. No hot water at first, until they realized that someone had inadvertently disconnected the on-call water heater. Plenty of table space, and an outlet, for computer use. No phone, I believe. Traffic noise average, considering the busy street. The price, however, was outstanding for the value (meaning, not expensive).

Room Tip: Choose back corner or rooms furthest from street for slight buffering from traffic.

Very friendly and helpful desk attendant (owner?) when we checked in at 8 PM. The motel met our needs for the night, but Room 11 doesn't seem to be one of the renovated rooms. It was clean w/comfortable bed, but a small room, w/window heater that was too noisy to leave running. For an inexpensive short stopover, it is quite clean, hospitable and easy to find.

Room Tip: Check to see room assignment. Avoid Room 11 unless nothing else available.

Quiet, clean and comfortable. We've stayed at a couple of inconsistent places in TorC before, but really enjoyed the Oasis. Big comfortable bed, spacious and nicely decorated. Also, right out the gate behind our room we found a hidden gem; the "Bedroxx Bowling Alley and Cafe." This place is freaking awesome. It's a real deal small town bowling alley, but done up in an over-the-top Flintstones theme. Entrance and inside walls look like huge boulders. Also inside is the "Leopard Lounge," with leopard print carpet and other nice stoneage touches. Friendly bartender, inexpensive drinks and good food. I had the portabella mushroom sandwich. Truth or Consequences also has a very nice Italian restaurant for dinner; the BellaLuca. It was busy last weekend and I get the sense people come from far to eat here.

Room Tip: We stayed in Rm. 6, which is in the back corner, kingsize bed and nicely decorated. It's a good...
