The open-air hot spring-fed pools by the river are wonderful. Guests have free access to the pools 8 AM - 10 PM, which is unusual--maybe even unique--in T or C. Overall this place has great potential. The coffee in the office was good, and staff were helpful. We liked the proximity to town, too.

The lodging is a mix. We stayed in the Casita, which is a short walk from the main part of the property. We knew this in advance, and that was not a problem. We did take issue with the large number of examples of poor maintenance and upkeep. Most were relatively small things that could and should have been addressed (missing screens in windows, no place to hang garments in one room, many light bulbs out, non-functioning fans, noisy air conditioners, broken garbage pail). We hope that the management will pay as much attention to details of room upkeep as they do to the gardens. This place has the potential to be truly wonderful. At present, it is a bit funky, so just be aware of what you are getting into.

Thank you, Barbara, for your kind words about the springs and also your thorough feedback about the Casita. I am personally taking a copy of your email to the Casita to investigate and fix the issues that you describe. We appreciate your stay and hope you have a wonderful day.

The Hot springs here are magnificent - right on the river - so calm and relaxing. I could spend hours there. I stayed in an Artists Room - they're quite small but manageable and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to help with things. (That seems to be common in T or C) Would definitely stay again!

Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back soon. Keep in mind that only our Artist rooms are small. Our other four classes of rooms are much larger, but they do book up further in advance. Cheers!

Although I have stayed in Truth or Consequences, (T or C) many times, this was my first stay at Riverbend. It is absolutely charming! The decor is quaint and quirky from the glass beads embedded in the stone walkways to the yard art. My compact room was in the main courtyard and quite comfortable. It had a full kitchen, comfortable leather sofa, and separate bedroom. But, the real joy was the long soak in the mineral spring hot tubs. I opted for the public pools, but I was the only one there. They look out over the Rio Grande to what appears to be uninhabited (by humans) lands, frequented by javelinas, deer, and raptors. It is a wonderful way to escape from the city.

Room Tip: If possible stay in the courtyard rooms.

We loved the hot springs! The atmosphere is perfect for relaxing and unwinding! The proximity to the river and the flower pots scattered around made it feel very unique. Loved the landscaping and decorations! We will definitely come back sometime!

We are so glad we found our way to this incredible treasure. It is such a fascinating place - so many aspects to digest! The decor and motif is so fitting - kind of a funky-chiq - incredibly interesting with ambiance that just couldn't be any better. The property is beautiful, private, peaceful and so well thought out with many added amenities -loved the sauna. There are private spas and shared spas and all overlook the river. The setting is spectacular and the spas are all kept immaculately clean. There are so many artistic touches it is impossible to take it all in in just one day - so we stayed another one - not only to enjoy all that this place has to offer with it's funky decor but to enjoy the best mineral baths and the other interesting wonderful guests that this place attracts. The hotel, grounds and spa areas were meticulously groomed and everything was extremely clean and neat. Jake, the manager, was so helpful in making recommendations for food and other attractions that we would be interested in visiting while staying in the area. and enlightening us about the history of his home town. All of the staff were great and friendly. I highly recommend Riverbend for a great spa experience. They made this a very memorable and most pleasant and fun stay. The pride taken in the building, landscaping, artistic touches, cleanliness, ambiance and customer service is very evident! This all makes this resort a very magical place! Thank you Jake and staff for making our stay so special!

Thank you Ben and Jill for your wonderful review and your company in the pools! I enjoyed conversing with fellow likeminded innkeepers like yourselves and I can't wait to get to your Costa Rica Yoga Spa as soon as I can make it down there! Take care and safe travels.

My friends and I booked room 3 that sleeps 6 people. There was a full kitchen, so we brought food and drinks. We loved the fact the room was within the compound walls, and had quick access to the hot springs. It was a very relaxing, fun way to celebrate my friends upcoming wedding.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the rooms (rooms 1-3) on the patio.

I was at Riverbend back in 2010 or so, and the owners have made some "ahh"-inspiring improvements - the flowers in beds and pots make the place look heavenly. There's a super-inviting and comfy gathering place with a fireplace in a courtyard. Small rooms have been added to the motel's offerings. There's a sauna.

The staff are professional, congenial, and solicitous.

The location - unbeatable. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other place in TorC that can compete with the riverside hot baths. The location and loveliness of the communal spaces are exceptional.

I stayed in one of the new small rooms, called the Artist rooms. What I liked: ceiling fan. In-room coffee maker. Very clean. Surfaces that are affixed firmly to the walls - no worry about placing your stuff on same. I especially like the cubbyhole shelf arrangement above the coffee maker counter. Nice little sitting area on the deck outside the rooms. Thoughtful hooks outside the door for drying towels or swimsuits.

But. With the upgrades come increased expectations. A quality-of-motel-life issue: The Artist rooms have no fridge and the motel's so-called ice machine is deplorably inadequate for guest's needs. (Some people have freezers at home that are better.) You've got to have one or the other: if no fridge in the room, then get a REAL ice machine. If you don't want to get an ice machine, then put fridges in all the rooms.

If you're going to install a security peephole in the motel room door, then think! How tall will most people be who: 1) use the peephole, and 2) might be outside the door? Even on tiptoes, I couldn't get close to the silly thing, and if I could, I'd not likely see even the top of the person's head who was standing outside the door. Better to not have installed one.

More hooks in the rooms, please. With towels + swimsuits, they'd be helpful.

Thank you, Livingrootless, for your thoughtful and thorough review! We are glad that you enjoyed the landscaping and the new amenities and rooms. We built the Artist Rooms to be extremely easy to spotlessly clean and to be able to offer them at the very low rate that they are. To keep them so affordable, and also because of their small size, we opted to not squeeze refrigerators into them. We agree that our current ice machine is not keeping up and you'll be happy to hear that we have already purchased a large commercial hotel ice machine. Some preparation is needed to install it in the location we have chosen, but it should be in place by mid summer of this year. We also agree that the contractor put the peepholes way to high for shorter folks. Rather than relocating them and patching the holes, we will add an additional hole below. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope your next visit will be sooner than later. Take care!
