The room was wonderful! One could really spread out. Not only were there 2 beds (one a king) but a sofa, eating or work table, microwave, etc. Also the vanity area was separate from the tub/shower and toilet area. My suite was poolside with a secure sliding door. Desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only thing only average about this hotel was the breakfast. The scrambled eggs were not very good, but there was lots of good bacon available which made up for the so-so eggs. I will definitely stay here next time in Taos!

Our room was extremely spacious. It had a King bed And a queen bed -- which I've never seen before in a hotel. There was also a separate room with a sofa (likely a sofa bed) and kitchen table and a kitchenette. Spotlessly clean and modern -- we were more than pleased. What was also greatly appreciated was the wonderful free breakfast -- bacon, eggs, "make your own" waffle grill, multiple cereals, lots of pastries and various juices, coffees and tea. All that for less than $100.oo. An incredible find and highly recommended. Staff bent over backwards to be pleasant and helpful.

I have read the other reviews and all I can say is, they must have encountered other staff members than we did. All of our rooms were clean, spacious and modern. The staff was courteous and helpful and the manager did everything she could to make our stay efficient and enjoyable. I am the manager of a travel hockey team and we were in Taos for a hockey tournament. We checked in very late and the person at the desk was ready for us, she got 32 hockey players, our coach, manager and the bus driver into our rooms in about 15 minutes! The property was close to dining and the municipal facility where the rink was located. The breakfast was good and comparable to other hotels in the same class/price range. I would recommend this property to other organizations with similar needs or to anyone who needs a little extra space when they travel.

In most other cities, this hotel would be closed due to lack of guests or it would have a major rennovation planned. In Taos, it is terrible but typical of what is available in the area. First of all the "non-Smoking" room we were in smelled like it had been smoked in since the 60's. Next, the carpet looked filthy and worn. That is because it was. The state of disrepair in the room was terrible also. We had a poolside room complete with a sliding glass door with a security latch that had previously been pulled out of the wall and just pressed back in and left hanging. The regular latch did not seem to be very secure by itself since the door frame was damaged.

The shower curtain rod is one of those curved ones; which is fine except that it was not attached to the wall securely so the rod sagged down and the shower curtain slipped to the middle and there was no way to keep water off the floor while showering. The rod was also upside down so the little nubs on the end of the rod bracket faced down and you could not use them to hold the shower curtain rings up against the wall. We talked to the front desk about this and they said they would send maintenance to fix it but never did. They also seem shocked when we checked out that it was that way and claimed they never new anything about it. I ended up repairing it myself since I got tired of trying to shower and hold the curtain and then clean up the water on the floor. Since the rod was attached using toggle bolts, I just had to flip the rod so the nubs would face the right way and then straighten the rod and tighten the toggle bolts. Problem solved, but why no maintenance around to do this?

And speaking of the bathroom, the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside wall. Not a big deal unless it is 5:00 in the morning and you get up and try not to wake others in the bedroom area just outside the door. The way this setup is, there is no way to turn on the light without flooding the sleeping area with light before you can close the door.

The TVs in the room were nice flat panel HD TVs. Unfortunately the hotel somehow managed to recreate 1960's TV reception. Even though the room had cable, the picture was snowy and almost impossible to make out. The TV in the lobby was not like this, So who knows why the one in the room was. There were two TVs in the room and both had the same showy reception.

The A/C system worked but the heating part seemed like it had only two settings - too hot or off. No matter what the thermostat was set on in heat mode, it seemed that it was simply an on/off switch. The cooling system worked well and was used once the room got too hot.

We had a ground floor room so the lack of an elevator did not bother me. I can see how it would be a problem for some though.

There were some good things about the room. It was at the back of the hotel so it was quiet with regard to traffic noise. It had a refrigerator and microwave, both worked. It also was a suite with a table with chairs, a couch, and a counter in a separate area from the beds. It also had a sink/makeup area separate from the bathroom. In this respect, it is more roomy than other similar hotels. It also had plenty of parking all around the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price and it is typical of what is offered in hotels at this level - cereal, waffles, boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, toast, pastry, etc.. Free wireless was also included. Bedding seemed clean and smelled fresh.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else to vacation.

From top to bottom, this place was horrid. The staff was rude and dismissive (had issues with heat not working, and request to change rooms was summarily denied despite the hotel being empty), checked in very late so I sucked it up when I shouldn't have. Location is away from everything. Absence of elevator was irritating. Rooms were okay but freezing as mentioned above. Complained politely the following morning and was told I should have mentioned it the night before. There are far better places to stay in Taos for the same price.

The motel was a very clean and nice place to stay, but because they did not have an elevator, we chose not to stay and extra night for the price which was $109/night. You would think for such a gorgeous place to stay in Taos, that elevator was be in the budget to help us old folks.

Room Tip: Tell them you want the 1st floor if you have any disabilities at all.

The room was not very clean and the front desk staff was just so so. The breakfast was fine. Parked right outside the door but had to enter throughout the inside door so that was a little weird. The review must be 200 characters so I am just writing to expand it.
