“Not bad, but nothing to write home about either”

Not a bad property overall. Lacks an elevator which they don't mention until AFTER you have your room on the 2nd floor and which means changing rooms or schlepping bags upstairs. All the first floor rooms face either the parking lot or pool, so during the busy season it could get noisy. Housekeeping was indifferent at best. Towels at the sink were replaced, but the bathroom was completely untouched. Bed was "made" by flipping the covers up. If the entire operation took 90 seconds I'd be surprised. Internet in rooms requires a cable for your laptop, but they have spares in case you don't have one. This was a big letdown in comparison after spending the previous nite in the Comfort Suites in Santa Fe. One couple even checked in, changed rooms and checked out in the space of about 10 minutes while we were sitting in the lobby! So maybe we had the "good" rooms!

I visit Taos periodically for pleasure and prefer La Fonda and El Monte Sagrado. But I needed to travel for one night to Taos in October for business so was looking for a rate my company would cover. Ordinarily, I would have booked a room with the Hampton Inn. The Comfort Suites, however, was at least $30 cheaper for the date.

The property is located on the outskirts of the main part of town. It's a very short (5 minutes) drive to the old plaza area of town. The reception area was quite nice and tastefully decorated in a Southwest motif. The front desk attendant was very friendly and accommodated my room preferences.

Once away from the reception area, I began to notice how worn and tattered the property is. Hallways are very dark with carpet in desperate need of replacement.

My room was very large--with one king and one queen bed. As others have commented, the rooms include a separate sitting area with tv, small fridge and sink. Another tv is in the bedroom area. Another sink is located near the closet, and the toilet and bath/shower are in a separate area. I can see how this type of room would be very desirable for a traveling family.

The room was very, very dark. Ornamental woods were dark; furniture was dark; carpet was dark. I found it depressing. The carpet in the room was soiled in many areas and definitely should be replaced. But, overall, the room was clean--outdated but clean.

The bed was wonderful--very comfortable and had newer linens and bedspread. I never heard any surrounding noise and slept very soundly.

The ice machine on my floor was not working, so I had to walk downstairs for ice. I also noted that my vending machine was out of order and the one downstairs was less than 30% stocked.

I skipped breakfast so can't comment on that aspect.

Very nice rooms, spacious and reasonably priced.

Pros: Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, all rooms come with a standard king and queen bed. High speed internet (ethernet cable required). Microwave and small fridge in every room. Pool and hot tub! Staff friendly and helpful.

Cons: OLD, OLD carpets in the rooms and hallways. Old property but maintained well. Breakfast is o.k., but leaves something to be desired. Walls semi-thin, can't hear everything but pretty close too it. Although there's a pool and hot tub, it's outdoors which limits access in fall/winter.

Overall: I would stay there again for the price and roominess. Compared to some of the other properties in Taos, this is a definite choice!

We had a great experience and were pleasantly surprised with the room decor and amenities at this price, as Taos doesn't come cheap. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The many pillows and luxurious comforter on the bed was a nice and luxurious touch. Having a second TV and phone in the sitting area were unexpected extras and also practical if everyone is not on the same schedule. The breakfast was great and the food was constantly being re-stocked. However, the room was small and folks were waiting for a table. We'll stay here again when in the area.

I usually stay at the Hampton Inn but for 80/night vs 140, I decided I would try the Comfort Suites. First the positives: the bed was VERY comforable, and the in room high speed worked great. Now the not so greats: the carpet was soiled BAD! I looked like it needed to be taken up and new laid down. The breakfast was ok....typical raisin bran and pastry....they did have eggs one morning, but that was the only one while I stayed there....I dont know what was up with the plumbing but there was obviously some pressure issues....I saw the maintenance guy mroe than once delivering a plunger to various rooms. My toilet would not even flush a kleenex.....

But, if you are looking for an ok experience, just a place to rest, you will not go wrong here...

I agree with the review just below mine. Everything they said is correct. Very comfortable accomodations, luxery towels, great bed, tons of pillows on each bed and the pillows were so comfortable. The room was not your average hotel room. It had Southwest charm and a mountain view (if you get a room on the North side.) The staff was very nice and there's a computer to use in the lobby. The parking lot needs work. There is a big pothole, maybe two. Other than that everything was great. I would definitely stay here again. I got a special rate for my room so the price was great value for what I got.

Older property but well maintained. Clean. old southwestern decor. Better than new plastic look. Good beds. Good shower. luxury towels. Warm, inviting, breakfast room. Good variety of food. yes, ask for room on north side. No elevator.

avoid BIG pothole in parking lot.
