Once again, My family had a wonderful time in Hacienda del sol. Wonderful people!!! My kids are always excited to go back to our room after a long day of snowboarding. Perfect location! Surrounded with great restaurants. Just asked Luellan, Erica, or Mark where to eat and they will even book it for you! What great service. Breakfast is wonderful. My kids were asking why Gerd, the Chef, is not serving dinner? LOL. We all wish! This place is wonderful. You meet great people. The room is cleaned everyday. This is the way to do it. Oh Luellan and Gerd will save you if they see you stuck up in the mountain:) Thanks Luellan and Gerd! We love you guys. See you soon.

We love our families here who entertain us at night with their musical talents! We have guests who feel like family and we love welcoming them back each year. Our ski valley provides terrific instruction for kids and a challenging mountain for some...tee hee!

My husband and I visited New Mexico March 9-16 and found it to be a better-than-expected vacation. When we researched the Hacienda on the Internet, it seemed exactly what we were looking for. When we called, the owner Luellen herself answered and quoted to us what we found to be a reasonable price for the area. We also liked that she was very friendly and personable. However, they were booked during the 2 nights we had wanted to stay, so we changed our travel plans to fit their openings, traveling first to Taos from Albuquerque, rather than going to Santa Fe first as originally planned. As soon as we got there, we fell in love with this quirky, funky, eclectic place. We realized we'd made a mistake booking only 2 nights here instead of 3, so we called the hotel in Santa Fe where we had originally planned to stay 3 nights, changed it to 2, and booked an extra night in Hacienda (we had to change rooms for the 3rd night, but no big deal; the new room was literally next door to the one we were staying at, and the staff was very accomodating - they moved our belongings for us while we were out touring the town). We stayed in the LaVista room and then transferred to El Pueblo room (both were nice, but we liked LaVista better). My husband and I sat every day at dusk on the chairs right outside our French doors for our "happy hour", watching the beautiful mountain views, and wearing our bathrobes. We also took advantage of the hot tub every night; once at 10:30 pm though it was very cold, watching the dark night sky and all the stars and constellations. It was beautiful, plus they have miniature lights strung up all over the inn and trees, so that made it extra surreal. It unexpectedly snowed our first night there, and THAT was an experience; being from Miami it was a treat for us, as we never get snow here. The view when we opened the French doors, with the mountain, grounds, and trees all covered with snow, was breathtaking. We had rented a convertible at the Albuquerque airport, and made good use of it, traveling through Taos and Santa Fe, taking in the beautiful scenery. We definitely got some funny looks from folks on the street all bundled up, and us with the top down! But we thoroughly enjoyed it. The family of 4, innkeepers Luellen and her husband "Chef Gerd," - who cooks wonderful breakfasts - their daughter Erica, and her husband Mark - all work in tandem, and each do their part to help make their guests' experience a wonderful and unforgettable one. All were very accommodating, patient, and friendly. Beautiful weather and nature views, friendly people at the inn and all over town, very good restaurants, etc. Doesn't get any better than that. Make sure you go to the Love Apple restaurant right next door.

Room Tip: Great views from La Vista (king) and El Pueblo (queen) rooms. They are one next to the other on the...

The Hacienda Del Sol in Taos, NM is such a beautiful b&b! I have stayed ther numerous times, and my most recent time I got engaged! The Hacienda's staff is so friendly, we loved waking up with them every morning. We have stayed in 4 different rooms over the course of the years, and every room has its own character and charm. If you are going to stay in Taos, then the Hacienda is the place to stay! Very convienent location to both in-town, and to Taos mtn.

We stayed at the Hacienda Del Sol while on a recent ski trip to Taos this February. The inn was absolutely fantastic and the service was impeccable. We stayed in the Los Amantes room and it was great. The word spacious doesn't do this room justice, and the bathroom is almost as big as the bedroom. The wood burning kiva fireplace was so cozy and romantic. As you go through the gate to the rooms, it's almost as if you are leaving another world behind you. The gardens are peaceful and tranquil and the views of Taos mountain are so majestic. The food was great and I loved the fact that you had access to the kitchen at all hours, it was nice to grab a cookie or a cup of hot chocolate before bedtime. I don't know that I will ever stay anywhere else in Taos now, I've been thoroughly spoiled!!

Room Tip: Los Amantes or the Taos suite are both spacious and inviting

Hacienda del Sol in Taos NM has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of the accommodations, amenities and attentive innkeepers. We stayed for five busy days at the end of February and came home each evening to clean rooms, refilled lotions and shampoos and warm greetings from Gerd, Luellen, Mark and Erica. Breakfast was delicious (and took vegetarians into account). Makings for hot chocolate and tea were always available (as were fruit and cookies)! And recommendations on where to eat and shop were spot on. Frankly, we wouldn't change a thing about our stay at Hacienda del Sol, and we are seasoned Bed and Breakfast travelers. A special note about Taos: end of February is a great time to shop because winter sales are abundant!

Room Tip: We stayed in Rio Grande. Although not our first choice (it was booked), we were very happy with size...

In Taos, New Mexico there are many inviting establishments, but Hacienda del Sol is definitely a hacienda of distinction with beautiful grounds, luxurious comforts and a great location!

It’s definitely the place you want to stay when you are in Taos!

The property was very private and peaceful, on the edge of 90,000 acres of sacred land, owned by the Taos Pueblo. The Inn itself also had a rich, colorful history and lively stories of Mabel Dodge, the New York social lite who owned the property back in the 1900’s. Maple and her many acquaintances such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Carl Jung, and many other notable people of the time stayed at the Inn and frequented the area.
Our hosts, Ericka and Mark were very gracious, accommodating and friendly with lots of knowledge about the history of the Inn, the local restaurants and things to do in and around town. They were also very skilled at preparing beautiful breakfasts each day for us with more food then we could ever eat!

Our room “Los Amantes” was beautiful, spacious and quiet. There was a hand crafted kiva in our bedroom corner stocked daily with wood and the sitting area was comfortable and inviting with an antique roll up desk, cd player, cozy blankets, books and tea candles.
The view of the mountain from the jetted tub, in our room, as well as the large skylight in the ceiling above was a treat, as we watched the moon pass by from the privacy of our own room!

We felt at home, comfortable and well taken care of, as well as having all the privacy we might want.

We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard admiring the ever changing views of Taos Mountain and the vast reservation stretched out in front of us. The sign up system for private time in the outdoor hot tub was a great idea so we could plan on watching the sunset or late night stars with the tub all to ourselves.

This private and serene property is a great place to relax, read, escape the outside world and appreciate the beauty and serenity of Taos and New Mexico.

I can’t see staying anywhere else when I go to Taos!
