We came here for dinner after getting into Taos in the middle of a monsoon downpour. We brought our dog with us, and I had looked up dog-friendly places to dine in Taos before arriving, but being that it was pouring rain, it was looking like we were going to have to get take-out and eat in the room, since most of the pet-friendly places had patios that weren't workable in the rain. The Burger Stand at Taos Ale House came to the rescue. Their patio on the front of the restaurant is fully covered. They cleaned off a table for us that had gotten some water blown onto it, and welcomed us and our dog. You order at a counter inside the restaurant. They had a nice selection of wine and a decent beer tap selection---pretty heavy on the IPAs (which I'm not a huge fan of) but lots of local NM brews on tap and a selection of bottled brews, too. The menu is also very interesting. Definitely some fun takes on the standard hamburger, and they have a nice selection of fries. We tried the bourbon bacon cheese fries and some sweet potato fries. The burgers were very good and definitely cooked perfectly to request (i.e. medium was truly medium, not a charred hunk of beef as I have sometimes gotten when ordered a burger cooked medium). One other fun thing about this place is that they have a sauce bar where you can try various sauces to top your burger or to dip fries in. Try the toasted marshmallow sauce with their sweet potato fries....it's like having dessert! So delicious!
