We finally found the perfect family ski destination. Taos is it - eclectic, unpretentious, & beautiful! Casa Gallina is the only place we will stay in Taos. Richard is a wonderful & talented host! He has created a very special oasis - down a dirt road with amazing mountain views! Fresh eggs from "the girls" in the back, delicious scones, pies, & other treats are just small samplings of what makes Casa Gallina a truly special place. Richard made our stay extraordinary - making sure each member of our family had a great vacation (even the non-skiers). He had superb restaurant, sight-seeing, & yoga studio recommendations. Our adobe was inviting, cozy, & very comfortable. We did not want to leave!

Richard has made this a very inviting and pleasurable place to stay. A little bit out of the way on a gravel road, but inside is well furnished and comfortable. Everything you need is supplied, except the food, to do some self catering. The Taos area is worth visiting and this is an ideal place to stay.

The Casa Gallina and our host Richard could not have been a better site after a long travel day from Boston. The room was perfect. We loved the art and the chickens in the back pen eager to provide a fresh breakfast. We hope to visit again and have already recommended Casa Gallina to friends.

Thank you Richard. Our Santa Fe accommodations paled in comparison.

After reading all the positive reviews listed here on TripAdvisor, we knew Casa Gallina had to be something very special. Nothing could have prepared us for the simple beauty and incredible level of care we would receive!
Due to a flight cancellation, all of our carefully laid plans were suddenly "out the window." To make a long story short, we called Richard to request arrival a full day earlier, and he helped make the necessary arrangements - reserving the Bantam Roost for an extra day, emailing directions from our current airport city, and most importantly, reassuring me that our much-needed vacation would work out! When we finally arrived (after 13 hrs. of total travel time), he greeted us with open arms and welcomed us to our "home" for the next three days. It was just as everyone has described - an oasis of calm and beauty...tasteful and unique decor, yummy treats delivered to your door, spot-on suggestions for dining, and a variety of peaceful places around the grounds to simply relax.
Our only regret is that we didn't have more time just to spend around our historic casa and the grounds. Be sure to take time to: light a fire in the fireplace, enjoy the simple task of feeding the chickens, walk the stone pathways and take in the beauty of the New Mexico landscape, and schedule a massage (Richard was a miracle worker!).
We are already planning our next visit to this wonderful destination. Richard has a true gift, and thankfully he is willing to share it with those who visit Casa Gallina!

We would like to “ditto” all the positive comments that precede this entry - Richard is a super host. He graduated from Cornell University’s Hotel and Restaurant School and whoever paid for that education didn’t waste their funds. We stayed in the Bantam Roost suite and enjoyed it immensely. Having spent nights in B&B’s from New Zealand to Germany, this was without a doubt the most beautifully decorated. Richard gave us ideas for meals and he was right-on, he has an ability to understand his guests and match the appropriate recommendations. Go and enjoy some very genuine hospitality. Thanks Richard, Bob and Karen

The service was awesome even before we arrived. We were sent detailed directions to the house ( Taos does have some areas off the GPS maps locations... ), which was very helpful; especially since we arrived during the early hours of the morning. He had the heater running, the lights on, a welcome note at the door and a variety of snacks and other things for us in the kitchen -- delicious!!
He took the time to show us all the local places to visit on the map, shops worth while shopping at, museums to visit, local treasures not to be missed and events that were happening that weekend.
Also, the house was very beautiful and cozy! The bedroom was very comfortable with a closet that was a very nice size and a large clean bathroom stocked with basic amenities.
The house was only a few minutes drive from the city centre making it like a treasure off the map, yet still close enough to down town!
The personal touch and the warmth of the place i have to say i loved!
I would stay there again for sure!

We have stayed several times at Casa Gallina and love it more each time. The setting is beautifully located in the valley yet close to eveything in town, the decorations and artwork enhance the comfortable and cozy casitas, and our host, Richard's attention to detail invites you to slow down, relax and breathe deeply. The property is quiet and offers many areas in and outside for sitting, reading, or having a glass of wine. Fresh eggs from the chickens are wonderful for breakfast.

Richard has a depth of knowledge of the many aspects of Taos and surrounding areas and will gladly give recommendations for sightseeing or activities based upon your interests.

Perfect for those looking for a get-away or recharging your batteries.
