“Best breakfast in town”
Reviewed August 2, 2007

This is a great place for breakfast. We've been there a number of times and it's been good every time. The menu is varied. You can have breakfast any time of the day. The restaurant is old, but clean. We ate there twice last week and while our servers were not overly friendly, they were very efficient. And given the number of people waiting in line for a table, they didn't really have lots of time to be effusive! :-)

“my favorite place in Taos for breakfast and lunch”
Reviewed July 26, 2007

Michael's Kitchen has excellent quality food with great friendly service. The menu is extensive for either breakfast or lunch-plus, they have many bakery items. I would not pass through Taos without stopping at Michael's.

“What's the big deal?....”
Reviewed June 11, 2007

Maybe because it is on the main freeway as you come into town from the north or because it is so close to the plaza, but I can't for the life of me understand why it is recommended so highly from locals as well as people on this site.
The food was just average, service just average, and the price beyond the average, whether in Taos or anywhere else for the amount of food that you get.
Being from Colorado and being hispanic and knowing that there is a difference between New Mexican and Mexican food and also having tried many restaurants in Abuquereque and Santa Fe from the small hole in the walls to fine dining, I wouldn't recommend Micheal's to anyone looking for great New Mexican food.
They are basically your average diner that happens to serve Mexican food also.

“Mixed Emotions”
Reviewed June 4, 2007

We asked around the art festival and when a couple of folks recommended Michael's we decided it was the place for us. It's also obvious every biker in town knows about this place; you can see it the minute you pull up to the parking lot. My emotions are mixed on Michael's. Two of us ordered from the Little Eaters section of the menu: Enchilada/Quesidilla, beans, rice and salad for $5.95. What a bargain! Food was tasty, but rather low in heat. (Maybe we just eat our Mexican a lot spicier here in Chicago). The service very attentive! However the third person with us ordered the ham and cheese which was served cold on a bun. Not what he was hoping for to say the least. He had chips with it but they were nacho and not potato so he was disappointed a second time. I would go back and give them another try next time in Taos.

“Breakfast has a new meaning”
Reviewed May 29, 2007

We patiently waited in line since this restaurant came highly recommended from all of our friends. The wait was worth every minute. The all day breakfast choices are long and distinguished. We opted for the SW style menu choices and were very pleased. The staff was hoppin on this very busy start to the Memorial Day weekend. Smiles and no lack of attention to detail were the orders of the day. Our meals were hot, delicious and we did not need lunch later that day. Now we know why every friend said Michaels was a must stop! My husband took cookies from the extensive bakery for our road trip down to Santa Fe. Everything was above our expectations!
