Michaels is consistently great food! We never miss a breakfast here when we are in Taos. Yum! Their chile is great and they have traditional dishes as well as a wide range of Mexican food. I love the huevos rancheros.

“Stick to your ribs dining”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

I just wrote a review for another place in Taos and then got to thinking that should you have kids, you may need to cater to that demographic - well, what better to do than skip the fast food and head to a local place that will satiate the younger palate? You can do that at Michael's. Burgers, fries and shakes that go down just fine. On the way out, check out the baked goodies. Yeah, it can be a little hectic and you may have to wait...but I would take this over genetically modified glop from a corporate mega-corp any day. Try it out when you are in Taos.

“Not as good as it once was”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

I first visited Taos over 30 years ago and went to this local cafe at that time and revisited it over the years. It is a busy, popular place that seems to be getting somewhat tired. Things were hectic, service spotty and food, a mixed bag. One platter was delicous trout with pinion nuts, baked potato, salad and a cup of spinach for $14. The other platter was Plantation Fried Chicken (a half chicken that must have been very tiny because there was little meat on the 4 small pieces of chicken) with soup and baked potato for $12.50. Not bad, but I think the fried chicken would have been better at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

“Always terrific!”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

If you are in Taos for any length of time you KNOW you must eat at Michaels! Breakfast.....cinnamon roll (not to spoil the surprize, but at least take a look!) Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benedict (s) Atole and Pinon pancakes.......simply the best! There is always a crowd for breakfast, so be prepared for at least a short wait, but rest assured it is worth it!

“Stopped on the way out of town”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

I stopped early Saturday as we had a long drive to Flagstaff. I bought a large cinnamon roll and had it cut in half. It looked really good. It was a bit dry, almost like it was the previous day's baking. The place is too busy for it to be old. Too bad we didn't have tea or coffee in the car to wash it down.
