We traveled to Taos for a weekend trip. Many said to enjoy breakfast at Michael's Kitchen. As we were traveling with our two small dogs, we were unable to dine there as they do not have an outdoor patio that accepts pets. However, we called and asked if we could order items to go - which we did.

Although it would have been great to enjoy the food at the table, the staff was very accommodating to our needs and our order. They moved quickly in putting our items together so we were not waiting long. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito with fresh green chile - and it was fabulous! We also indulged in the cheese blintzes - also incredible. We brought home a lemon cinnamon roll and some fresh, sourdough olive bread - worth the calories! We will return to this restaurant when we are back in town. A definite stop when in Taos!

We initially came for some doughnuts to eat during our car ride to Santa Fe, however ended up sitting at the lunch counter, and did order some food. The place was bustling!
The overall atmosphere is very casual. There were a few colorful locals at the counter, more than willing to chat, which we as a family really enjoy. We ordered 2 baked items,a burger and a turkey club. The waitress was nice and was prompt with the drinks and the bakery items. The baked goods were large, soft and yummy. The burger and sandwich were really just average overall...nothing to rave about. The total bill with tip was 28$. We had to wait a bit to pay, as you bring the bill up front, and there was a line. It is crowded up there with servers and patrons trying to get by. I would come back to sample more items from the bakery case, but would probably spend my food dollars elsewhere.

This has to be my favorite place to get a good Mexican combination plate. I had a beef enchilada (red chile), a chile relleno, and a tamale with rice and beans. The taste was excellent! The sopapilla was hot, light and non-greasy -- a delight with honey! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. I did go at 5:00 p.m., so it was not crowded, which could be a problem at other times.

The experience was great. The wait was short both times we were there. We had dinner one night and breakfast one morning. They have a selection of New Mexican favorites as well as the regular American food items. They have a large selection of breakfast dishes served all day. We had the enchiladas with red and green sauces. The Indian taco was excellent. We had the german pancakes and a selection of egg dishes in the morning. There is a bakery on site furnishing cinnamon rolls bigger than a dinner plate. The wait staff was professional and very attentive. I'd do it again. It is one of my first stops when we visit.

We went to Michael's for a late lunch and shared a combination plate. There was ample food for two of us and we were able to order a relleno for each of us, plus a chicken taco for the 3rd item. The rellenos were good although the cheese wasn't melted. The service was fine but we had to ask for ice tea refills-twice. The best and largest sopapillas I've had in a long time!
