“Tiny house, huge burrito!”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Like the other reviewers: charming brew pub with killer green chili burritos with potatoes inside. 1 burrito easily feeds two. Lots of people ordering the green chili stew. Chili beer is hit or miss. I liked the Black Cat. Note: this is a BEER place. No other alcohol. Sodas and juices. Hot cocoa. Cute place to take your better half and cuddle up to a cold beer and rib stickin comfort food.

“Good for what ales you!”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Really cool little place! The waitress was superb! She brought several samples of their brews. The husband didn't like the Green Chile Beer (the waitress said it's one of those love/hate beers), but he did love the Brown Ale. I was in the mood for a hot toddy after a long day of skiing, but only brews--dang. Asked for water and the waitress asked if I wanted hot water. That's a first as I've asked for hot water in the past and been looked at like I was strange. She offered it to me which either means I'm normal or this place is a little unusual. Eskes is unusual but in a good way. We had green chile stew and green chile burrito. Both were very good, but the burrito was the best. Mashed potatoes inside--yum! The burrito will feed two unless you're a big eater. It started to snow mid-meal which added to the pleasure. It's an old house that's been converted so looking out the windows felt like being at home. We'll definitely return.

“Quaint brewery, live music, perfect atmosphere with great food”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

This brewery was a welcome part of a spring break trip to Taos. We are beer snobs, and this brewery did not disappoint. We did the visitor thing and had the sample platter of beers. The most unique and intriguing was their green chili ale. Delicious with a hint of fire. The brewery is housed in an older building, with multiple small rooms, giving it a very friendly and homey feel. Service was great, live music was entertaining, food was delicious. We will return next time we are in Taos.

“OND = one 'n done!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

The menu is unusual and while the food is good, they need to revamp the menu. The beer was less than average. I wanted a pale ale, the tap was not working, later they brought a sample of the pale ale but it was not cold which was true with all the the beers, they were not cold.

The were rated the #1 brew pub in Taos, well they are the only brew pub in Taos, and they would not make my top 200 microbrew list, actually they would be left off any list.

“13 years since last visit and even better!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

When we used to live in New Mexico over 13 years ago we used to stop in to Eskes after a hike to have a Fatty and a couple of beers and while vacationing here this time we were waiting o return. This afternoon after the prerequisite hike we stopped on for the 'usual' and it was honestly better than I remembered it. If you are visiting Taos and need that taste fix, this it, say hello to Wanda in the open kitchen and bring an appetite, thanks, great memory!
