“Still very good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2011

This was our fourth or fifth visit to Taos. Under new ownership we found the menu, taste, service, and management to be as good as before. We weren't disappointed. Reservations are really vital. This is a popular restaurant. We sit out on in the back area (not outside) which is quieter. The two tables close to us were local customers and they said Lamberts remains one of the very best.

“Just not the same...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2011

Since the sale of Lambert's about a year ago, things are just not the same. Our experience the last time was a HUGE disappointment. The chef has changed, the clientelle has changed, and the class has definitely gone out of the place, regardless of white table cloths and overpriced dinner entrees. The best part of the evening was the ever present host, Tom, who is still gracious, warm, and charming.

“We always go to Lamberts. Never disappointed.”

Call us cheap, but we always eat at the bar off the bar menu. You can the grilled lamb or a decent serving of beef stroganoff for $18. It is really good food without being a total wallet beater. You can order from the regular menu, but the prices are a lot higher. And if look with even the slightest of care, you can get a pretty good bottle of vino between $40 and $50. Try the Absinthe Minded Martini for something different.

“Overrated at best”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2011

Lambert's was recommended to us by a friend who told us we should go there because the food was "amazing" After a somewhat less than amazing experience there, I was ready to chalk it up to an off night, but in reading some of the comments in other Trip Advisor reviews, I am now less inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. We made a reservation, but when we arrived, the place was half empty, except for a large party seated behind us. We mentioned that this dinner was a delayed anniversary celebration to both the hostess and our waiter, yet we were seated right next to the large party. A large party that got progressively louder and louder and louder. Our waiter was attentive enough, but seemed more interested in telling us his life story than describing the food, giving us recommendations or offering to seat us elsewhere. The bus staff were much more attentive - pouring water, giving us bread, replacing silverware, asking if we we needed. And the food- well presented in a bland and pretty typical high end restaurant sort of way, but flavor wise- just as bland and pretty. Not worth the $38 for my wild boar and $30 ish something for my husband's salmon. After we were served. our waiter barely looked our way, except to plunk the check down on the table after we declined desert. Even though Lambert's has a lovely dining room, we did not feel encouraged to linger for a few moments after we finished eating - again, the room was half empty. What was supposed to be a romantic, post anniversary splurge in fine dining turned out to be a pretty expensive so so meal. And let's not forgot the obnoxiously loud party behind us. Unless you are going as party of an obnoxiously loud party and someone else is picking up the tab, I would not recommend lambert's
