Quite a ways up and not for the faint of heart. You can feel the bridge move as trucks roll past. But it is the best vantage point to see what the gorge is all about.

The view of the Rio Grande River Gorge from the bridge was wonderful! The vista was unbelievable. The view is worth the trip to Taos. There is a nice rest stop on the west side of the bridge which has a great view of the bridge as well as interesting hiking trails. There are numerous vendors on the west side of the bridge offering jewelry, pictures and rocks.

Unbelievable vista from the middle of the bridge. We also went to the rest stop on the north side of the bridge, walked the trail and found another incredible vantage point. Well worth the drive from Taos. Would love to see the gorge in the spring or the summer.

I especially recommend the hiking trail on the west side, starting from rest area and heading south. We saw a herd of bighorns. Spectacular views go gorge and mountain ranges. Easy walking or mountain biking.

Either direction offers a parking lot just steps from the bridge. Vendors offer jewelry, rocks, and food in both lots. Walk across or stop in the middle at the lookout and you'll have terrific views. The drop is far so some visitors were holding on very securely, be prepared to move around people.
