Beautiful views! I understand that there are some hiking trails also for those who are inclined to do so. Also stopped and bought some Indian jewelry there from the roadside stands.

The views are spectacular, it is very close to Taos and it's free... what's not to like.

Note... After you cross the bridge, there will be a gravel area where many people park. There are also street vendors and a large school bus converted into a coffee and smoothie stand.

I suggest that you use the rest area just beyond this area... there is well marked entrance for a rest area.

From the rest area, you can walk the bridge and hike a long trail on the west rim of the gorge. The hike is fairly level and offers great views. Clean bathrooms also at the rest area.

Recent years have found me uncomfortable with heights, so we walked just 1/3 way across to get photos. Interesting but not particularly beautiful. Enjoyed in the Indian artists hawking their wares on the far side; did not appreciate white-guy selling Mexican stuff. Just my personal taste.

Don't expect the Grand Canyon...this is much smaller and a bit off the beaten path, but worth the drive at least once.
