“Superb getaway weekend”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

A beautiful retreat from hectic life! Began with a wonderful, helpful, and pleasant greeting from the very personable valet, who graciously showed us to the check-in. Check-in was smooth, comfortingly pleasant, and very welcoming. Our room (Caribbean Casita) was whimsically spacious and bright, with a gas fireplace and large bathroom -- perfect for a restful and relaxing weekend! The spa is exquisite -- therapists and treatments are fantastic. Scrumptious breakfast and dinner, although it appears that the restaurant is in a transition phase. Easy (less than half a mile) walk to the Plaza and other quaint shops and restaurants. Previous reviewers have shared that staff showed an "elitist" or "pompous" attitude towards guests, but our experience involved nothing like that -- the staff was friendly, courteous, pleasant, helpful, and in-the-background, ensuring all was well for guests while not being obvious. Will definitely return!

Room Tip: Casitas are highly recommended!

Have had the pleasure of staying here a couple of times, mainly for wine events when I chose not to have to drive home! The original rooms are the Native American suites, these are as described earlier, apartment with no kitchen. The newer wing has rooms that are the same size roughly, but all one room, with a huge tub and shower. The galleries on Kit Carson Road are the nicest in town, the Plaza is largely made in China tourist stuff, but all of town is walkable from here.
Local musicians in the bar many nights, great bar menu, pricey, but not any more so than the other top restauant/bar choices in Taos.

This is a beautiful property in Taos. My husband and I visited in October. It is not in the main square, but it is definately walkable. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was decorated old west style and very comfortable. The only negative is that there was no internet or cable service even though were told it was included. We did not call the front desk, because it was not that important to us. The bathroom was quite large with a big soaking tub. We loved it, but it would be difficult to get in and out of for some seniors or people with mobility issues. The spa was amazing. I had a massage with Tim and he was terrific! We had breakfast included. It is not a buffet breakfast, rather order off the menu and there is a $15 per person maximum which they did not tell us when we booked. It was not a big deal. The breakfast was good and our server was extremely attentive. They did have some evening entertainment which was also fun. The hotel offers shuttle service into town and in the evenings to go out to dinner by the valet staff. I highly suggest doing that. The valet staff were so helpful and we really never had to wait for our car.

Unique and memorable. Beautiful quiet property rich in architectural detail and designed with appeal, three blocks walking distance from the center of pedestrian Taos. Newer rooms are Southwest boutique design with gas fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, leather hide trimmed armoires, timber viga beams, luxurious beds. "Global" rooms are larger, truly deluxe mini suites each with unique international themes ( India, China etc) and could be worth the surcharge for a honeymoon. Hotel is part of the Kessler 'Signature' boutique chain and now affiliated with Marriott. Grounds are beautiful, green, and quiet. Beautiful pool and jacuzzi in a lushly landscaped, tented greenhouse that is like a desert oasis. Architecture and grounds are a labor of love with beautifully detailed wrought iron, stone and tile, vigas and cottonwoods. Management and staff are excellent : friendly, welcoming, attentive and efficient. We enjoyed it so much we rearranged our itinerary so as to swing back for two additional nights and hated to leave. Thank you's to Stephen and Susan in reception/management, Dolores the maitre'd of the sunny and pleasant restaurant. Lovely onsite gift shop/art gallery run by a charming and knowledgable lady just relocated from another Kessler property on the East Coast. I highly recommend the Sagrado and can't imagine now staying anywhere else in Taos. One more Taos tip: don't miss Michael's Restaurant a short walk from the hotel, great food at very affordable prices, if I were a local I'd be a regular there. Do be aware that a daily valet parking charge will be added even if you self-park in their large lot and don't use the valet service. Two very enjoyable stays. Warmly recommended.

Room Tip: Newer rooms are boutique style: gas fireplaces, balcony/patio, jacuzzi tubs, great beds. "Globa...

This Marriott property has all one could ask for in or near Taos. It was our first trip to Taos and we enjoyed splendid autumn colors. The shops of Taos are typically "touristy," but fun. The hotel is beautiful -- a little above our normal price range as we travel, but worth the extra. We only had two nights in Taos, but would love to go back for a longer stay. It would be especially nice for an "escape" to a quite, relaxing few days at a resort hotel.

This was a great holiday trip. The hotel property has a number of different rooms. We stayed in the Global Village- with themed rooms. This was a really interesting property. the rooms were tremendously original, the property was landscaped really uniquely - I had plums off the tree every morning. The service was a little spotty - I know they have a manager now that is really looking after the well being of guests. Great pool, and super close to the center of town. I would stay there again, great place to rest after skiing in the hills.

Room Tip: Great global themed rooms.

We stayed here for one night, and were given a lovely room with a fireplace and massive bathroom. We were very happy with this, as we were staying at the hotel on Marriott points and weren't paying for the room. Breakfast was not included.
The next morning we found under our door a bill charging us for the room, not putting the room against points, and surprisingly for parking too. My husband went to reception to sort it out, and received no apology for their mistake on charging us for the room. That is very bad customer service, and as a frequent traveller to the USA, I was surprised at that. As for the parking, the hotel charges $12 dollars+ tax a night, valet parking or not, just to park on their land!! Not good. Also we got charged $9.99 + tax for internet use.
All of that somewhat soured our stay.

Room Tip: 626 is a lovely room
