Not the fast way to travel, but such breathtaking scenery the time is well worth it. Especially the stop in Cimarron.

Great scenery and lots of places to pull off the take it all in. The ride to red river and angle fire is really nice. You have to check out the Vietnam memorial too, espically the chapel.

Kind of a Southwestern version of California's 17 Mile Drive, a nice way to drive through beautiful vistas and landscapes. But if you're a "seen one, seen 'em all" type, you may get restless.

We just completed an all day circular trip through some of the most beautiful sights in New Mexico. It started in Taos and went clockwise north toward the little town of Questa. Along the way we stopped at interesting towns--Red River, Eagles Nest and Angel Fire. There were many beautiful views of mountains especially Wheeler Peak, good walking and hiking trails, a historic 1840 church in Questa, St. Anthonys that is currently going through a complete renovation. There was a small abandoned gold mining ghost town, Elizabethtown and a few miles away a lovely state park at Eagle Nest Lake a 6 mile long multipurpose lake. Do not miss the Vietnam Memorial, chapel and visitor center near Angel Fire. It took us about 7 hours, taking time to explore different areas and towns and to have lunch in Red River--a great leisurely trip.
