“Truly Enchanted”

This is a very nice half-day trip. We traveled counter-clockwise and looking back I would probably do this trip in a clockwise direction as the trip south from Angel Fire is a beautiful finish. Don't miss the Viet Nam Memorial. Great views, towns are interesting if not too touristy.

“Wonderful scenic drive”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

This circle drive is almost a perfect loop that heads north but returns to Taos. Great drive with nothing overly dramatic but just nice and scenic. It does just miss famous Taos Pueblo and the Gorge bridge over the Rio Grande when you first leave Taos but you could easily add these two attractions. The gorge bridge would only add a half hour to the drive but Taos Pueblo could add a couple of hours. The drive goes through a few towns, through much of Carson National Forest, next to some ski areas, drives along Eagle Nest Lake, and heads past well known Angel Fire. Only the hill side cut away in one place by an old molybdenum mine marred the tour. Much of the drive was through lovely territory and you are close to the highest peak in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak. The ski town of Red River was full with hotels and restaurants and will be more crowded in a couple more months. While we drove towards Eagle Next Lake we had a most errie feeling since a low lying cloud was covering the surface of the lake. Spooky! We knew where the lake was but all you could see was cloud. All in all the drive takes as long as you want. You could probably make it in a couple of hours with the speed limit but you would enjoy it more with a couple more hours and stop for views and lunch.

“Georgeous Drive”

Scenery was spectacular. Angel Fire is a paradise. Don't miss the Vietnam Memorial at Angel Fire. It is the first memorial in the United States to remember those who served and died in Vietnam. Don't miss it.

Great drive, winding through a National Forest - especially beautiful as the aspens begin to change colors. Lots of small towns, small streams, wildlife.

“A Very Scenic Drive”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The enchanted circle drive is a lot of fun. On the way we took a detour to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge and the Millicent Rogers museum, then continued on the circle drive. You see a lot of the high country around Taos and it is time well spent. Be sure to see the Vietnam Memorial for a moving experience.
