“Inconsistencies”
Reviewed June 13, 2011

Our stay was pleasant, but far from perfect. Although the room was spacious and nicely laid out, the street noise was very disturbing. Dogs barked from early evening until after 11pm and from 6AM on. The street traffic noise was also constant.
The first morning at breakfast, I had to search for a place-setting and never saw either Peg or Jerry that morning. They were, however, helpful with reservations and directions.
Although Jerry was accommodating, I think a more visible, "hands-on" management is called for.

Thank you for taking the time to review our inn. Although guests overwhelmingly comment on how quiet our walled acre property is, we take your feedback seriously. When dog barking has come to our attention from time to time over the past 20 years, we have been very successful in curtailing it quickly by contacting our neighbors. Next time, please let us know. We have shared your comment regarding a hard to find breakfast place setting with our staff who will be sure more settings are easily visible at the four tables in the breakfast sunroom and in the summer months on the patio. Our intent is to offer our guests a nice choice of breakfast spots. Thank you. Inn on La Loma Plaza, Owner/Manager

We stumbled on this Inn while driving in the Taos area, and stayed one night in the Taos Pueblo Room. It was a pleasant experience. The room had a kiva fireplace (which we did not use) and the bathroom had a steam shower (which we loved). The breakfast was excellent. We also enjoyed our conversation with the hosts and their delightful daughter. The only difficulty we encountered was in moving our bags from the parking lot which was on a lower level up to room - this was not a problem for us but it could be difficult for those with physical disabilities. On the whole, however, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider staying there again if we are in the area.

Peggy and Jerry were so warm and friendly, the nicest people. We felt welcome and comfortable from the first moment. The Inn is immaculate, the bed was so comfortable. The attention to detail in the beautiful decor was amazing, lots of great antiques. You can tell these innkeepers love what they do! We received great suggestions for restaurants. While at the Inn we stayed in the Happy Trails Room, what beautifull mountain views! The room was cozy with our own private patio and we felt right at home. Top notch service, every day the fireplace was cleaned and fresh firewood was waiting for us at the end of our day!! The location is a short walk to the Taos Plaza. We will return. Thanks again, Peggy and Jerry!!

We were upgraded to a king room, enjoyed a package including champagne and chocolates, and a $30 gift card to Lamberts. It was a great experience. Thank you.

Comfort and service are king here. The rooms are all unique. Ours was comfortable and homey. The fireplace made it even more cozy. Everything we needed was there, including wireless internet throughout the Inn. The breakfasts were scrumptious and specially made daily. Soft drinks were provided...and cookies in the evening. Innkeeper Jerry Davis was all about service. He had menus for local restaurants, provided recommendations on places to dine, and made the reservations. He provided tips on sightseeing, personally tailored to our interests. Every recommendation he made was spot on. The Inn is convenient walking distance to the plaza and in-town destinations.

Room Tip: Go read the website, then talk with Peggy or Jerry

This is the best place we have stayed at in Taos during the past 8 years and at least a dozen stays! The innkeepers are superb. Peggy Davis was extremely helpful in making our multi room and multi arrival reservations easy and assigning us a wonderful two room suite. Jerry Davis is a gracious host and a fine conversationalist who made check-in and check-out pleasurable. We arrived just a couple days after natural gas was restored to Taos after one of the most bizarre energy distribution chapters in New Mexico history.
One member of our party requires a gluten free diet and each morning, Maria prepared special breakfast fare that was gluten free and exceptionally tasty.
Our rooms were the La Loma Studio and Georgia’s Garden Room which created a luxurious suite for four adults and two dogs - emphasis on luxury. It is a great inn for people traveling with well behaved dogs with the south facing lawn proving to be a wonderful romping area.
The complimentary library of books, games, videos and dvd’s for guests to borrow is eclectic. And be sure to engage Jerry Davis in conversation. His is a sublime intellect and time passes quickly while visiting.
The location, just a couple blocks from the historic Taos Plaza, is superb. The quality of the Santa Fe style adobe finish and décor throughout the property make this a gem of the southwest.
From now on this will be our first choice in Taos!

Despite the negative review and an issue with the map TripAdvisor provided (the map is wrong!), I was able to find the Inn and decided to check things out for myself. Boy, am I glad I did!

Jerry gave us a tour and showed us the rooms available. All were tastefully decorated and looked comfortable. I wound up staying in the "Happy Trails" room, which is decorated (as you might expect) with antique cowboy paraphernalia. It wasn't overdone at all and was a very warm and inviting room with a deck area and a fireplace with a fire ready to go.

There were plenty of books around, but not too many, with a mix of contemporary and older books on the shelves. I don't know what the other reviewer's issue with the books was. I saw books and knick-knacks, but they certainly weren't overdone in my opinion.

Jerry offered some tips and suggestions for dinner and put out a late snack of queso and what i believe was home-made salsa. There was also tea and soda available.

Breakfast the next morning was prepared by Peggy and was delicious! French toast style croissants and sausage with a fresh fruit smoothie. There was also a nice selection of fresh fruit and juices to choose from. I seem to remember cereal, but I was all about the french toast!

Honestly, I don't know what else you could ask for in a place to stay. Comfortable bed, pleasant hosts, clean room and a great breakfast all in a historic building easy walking distance from the city center. I'll definitely be making reservations with Jerry and Peggy the next time I'm traveling through Taos!
