“Eating our way through the menu!”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

We have just been to Mondo Italiano for the 5th time. As always, it was delicious! The pasta is light and cooked to perfection. The pancetta in the carbonara sauce is just like what we get in Italy (and again, cooked to perfection). The antipasto salad is another favorite. Creative and plentiful. The homemade italian dressing is so great I have taken it to go more than once. Subs come with the best fries in town. The wine selection is surprising for a small place. They have picked wisely as I have easily been able to compliment my meal with just the right one. Thankfully, we have had the same waitress each time we have been in and she is terrific! Lauren has just the right balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. She is a gem.

“NY Style Italian Restaurant”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

Mondo Italiano will remind NY expats of the quaint great little italian storefront restaurants that pop up in Greenwich Village and little Italy...the ones with lines outside waiting to get. The food is great! The ambience charming (Sinatra and soft lighting, red tablecloths and candles. The waitstaff is Taos friendly and the prices are right. You WILL like Mondo!

“Best Italian of Taos”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Traditional Italian in an unlikely storefront location serving everything from Bruscetta, Linguine with clams (excellent), raviolli to pizza. Reservations are recommended as the seating is rather limited but expect traditional italian done very well down to the checkered tablecloths.

“Marinara good, Alfredo tasteless, waitstaff needs polishing and training”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

Quaint little place, some of the food was excellent (chicken parm, eggplant parm), some was terrible (chicken alfredo). The chicken on the alfredo was boiled with no spices and plopped on top of cream. . .not sauce, cream dumped into a bowl with no seasoning. The owner was walking around with a camera taking photos of patrons, it was intrusive, one should be asked before photographed. The waitstaff was lacking and they needed more than one waitress. And, there is no A/C so don't go in the summer.

“Perhaps the cook was tired, however . . .”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Perhaps the cook was tired, however it was getting late and we hadn't eaten. Let me sum it up. This was the second worst pizza I have eaten in recent memory, exceeded only by a crummy pizza in Ouray, Colorado. I could only eat one slice. Friendly waitress, though.

Let's hope they can do better!
