This little "dump" (I use the description affectionately) was recommended to use by the hotel desk clerk in Santa Fe. This is his favorite restaurant in Taos. It truly is a hole in the wall but the food was very very good! I had the shrimp enchiladas which were great, my husband had the seafood enchiladas and our friends had the burrito and one had fish and chips...no kidding. All the food was very reasonable and delicious! Our server, Jose gave us good suggestions and the food was served quickly. Would highly recommend it for lunch.

The chips/salsa/guacamole was very good. I don't usually like guacamole but I did at this place! The green chile was excellent. Everything had great flavors. The service was good and food came out quickly. Definitely recommend!

Had a great vegetarian meal. Tortilla soup without chicken and chile rellenos. Both were terrific. The service was very cheerful and fast. The price was good. The ambiance was authentic. Very limited seating.

This is an excellent restaurant serving delicious food in a casual setting & located just across the street from Taos Plaza. If available, seating on the patio is relaxed & cheery while the coziness of the main dining room makes you feel more like a guest rather than just another diner. Everything on the menu is made fresh & the varied menu offers something for everybody regardless of dietary restrictions. You can't go wrong with either the Chile Rellenos or the Fish Tacos. For a true northern New Mexican dining experience, La Cueva is hard to beat & they're open every day of the year. No alcohol means fewer loud mouths, so kick back with a homemade lemonade & enjoy!

This restaurant really tries to please. They've expanded their seating to include adjacent buildings in the little plaza, and every table really fills up. For good reason. The tacos were excellent and very authentic - just like Mexico. No fast-food Mexican here. The chicken mole was also worth a try. Great place for lunch.
