Loved it, they guy running it was awsome. Its worth hearing the crazy story about gov bent. Funny we came here on a dart throw and turns out gov. bent is the brother of bents fort back were we are from. well worth the 3 bucks to see a 8 legged goat.

“Small but unique museum”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Like Kit Carson's home, Governer Bent's house is a part of Taos history. Be sure to have someone show you around and tell you a little about the revolt that led to Gov Bent's murder and his daughter's record of that day.

“History Tucked Away”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

In between all the shops, you will find this little museum with a big story to tell. Very creative displays and interpretation, well laid out and compact. Don't pass it by when you are shopping in the John Dunne Shops because you would be passing up the chance to learn a little history of the Taos area and New Mexico.

“Fascinating historian in charge”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

This museum is small but stuffed with artifacts, some of them relevant to Governor Bent and many not. The visit was more than worth the small fee just to hear George talk about the history of the era. He was knowledgeable and anxious to share the information. It made for an unusual and interesting stop.

“Grumpy old guy hated being there.”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Went and did a tour of the Gov.Bent museum on Bent street in Taos NM. Paper advertised as price being $1.00. When we got there, the unfriendly old guy charged us $3.00 each, but we paid as the place had some interesting stuff from the 1800's to the early 1900's. Basically 3 rooms stuffed with misc. stuff. Old tools, Gov.Bents piano. Old dresses. Skinned snakes and a weird shark? 6 legged lamb. Lot of photos and old newspaper articles. Was pretty interesting. Wish the grumpy old guy had something to share. He probably had some knowledge about the stuff and would have made the museum a little more interesting.
