“excellent food, healthy localvoire restaurant”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

of course, with kale salad, (ha-ha, joking). food is really good. though it is along major thruway, it may be difficult to locate the restaurant. drive slowly. a cozy old house turned to restaurant. you need reservation. and carry cash or checkbook. no credit card is accepted here. but the price is very reasonable. I made it a rule to have dinner here every time I came to Taos. maybe this was my 4th time. always good. oh, one problem. fork was dull.

“Everyone loves Love Apple, and we did too!”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The restaurant is absolutely charming, the food was delicious, the waitstaff was warm and personable, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. Would love to go back, next time I'm lucky enough to visit Taos!

“A culinary standout”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Perhaps our favorite dinner in Taos, even though we couldn't get a same-day reservation until 8:45! Rustically charming, romantic and French-inspired decor and an extra-inviting menu and wine list, plus impeccable service, we'd recommend it to even the "foodie" diners. Reserve in more advance than we did!

“An almost great restaurant!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

CASH OR CHECK ONLY! As this restaurant is on the northern outskirts of town, knowing this in advance will make the dining experience a lit less panicky in advance. Dining inside takes you thru a service door at the front into a space barely large enough to accommodate people and an open door. It is also a storage area. Passing by the open kitchen as you travel to the dining room is pleasant but unusual. Even the seating along the benches on the walls has boxes of wine stored under it. Space is obviously a real challenge. Seating is limited, so reservations are necessary. The dining room has a warmth and charm that makes you forget the quirks. The food is fresh, much of it local, and not necessarily what's on the menu. Some dishes are outstanding and some not so much. Not bad, just not as good as it could/should be. Like the loin lamb chops substituted for lamb shanks just didn't work. The chops were excellent, but the broth was more like soup, so chops in soup is a far cry from tender, slow-cooked lamb shanks in sauce. Very inconsistent. When it is "on", I'm sure this is a fabulous restaurant. When it's not, it's quite erratic. Worth trying again.

“Charming restaurant!!! Romantic too!!”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

This was one of the cutest restaurants. The atmosphere was very romantic too. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door that asked us to please use the other door. It looked like the kitchen, and it was!! The main door of the restaurant was blocked off since the diners would get a chill in the cool evening air, so they had guests enter and exit through the kitchen. But we were not walking past the cooking area directly, so it was all good. The manager was so kind, and actually let us taste wine while we were waiting to be seated. She was obviously very caring about the business, and very attentive to all of the customers and the employees. After we got our wine, we were able to go outside and relax by the fire while we waited for our table. When we went in, we were both amazed at the whole ambiance. And the food was equally as good. I had a salad with chicken and quinoa. The dressing was very light and nice. My boyfriend had the burger, and said it was also really great. Our waitress was also very kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. I will be back if I travel back to Taos!!
