We went on the advice of fellow travelers using Trip Advisor, and El Meze was just a delight for our 25th anniversary dinner. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Food was surprising in its creativity, particularly the desserts! Everything was great and the bill was less than I would have expected for this level of quality. We went fairly early, having made reservations, and watched the place fill up, and on a Tuesday night. It was very close to our hotel, so it all worked very well for us. Restrooms are outside the restaurant in another part of the building, requiring that the guest go outside, so if it's cold or windy out, I can imagine that this would be less convenient for some.

The menu is small but the food was delicious. The salad, entree and desert were all originalWine selection was good, and the Waiter, Michael is very professional. The Owner is hands on, fully involved and she takes great personal pride in delivering a very satisfying dining experience. I also appreciated her morning coffee suggestion. Staff were all friendly and the decor was beautiful. What a great meal and no surprise that they are number 1 in Taos.

We arrived at 5:30 (had reservations as it is a small restaurant.) Thus we were the first ones in the restaurant and were really happy to have Isaac as our waiter as he knew the history of the restaurant and so many other things of interest to you. We had the Roasted Red Pepper with Goat Cheese which we shared and it was wonderful with a touch of oregano & sherry vinegar. I had the trout which was good, but maybe the Herb Rub was a little over powering for trout, but still enjoyed it. My husband had the duck which he wished he would have had something else and it was in a ham broth with Collard Greens. Good, but just not his cup of tea.

Charming little place with good service and delicious food. We had the Roasted poblanos (!!), Chiccarones(!!), buffalo tamale, Frijoles (!!) and donuts in chocolate for dessert. I would definitely come here again. Nice wine selection, too.

This was absolutely an explosion of flavors! Everything was awesome from the appetizer to the dessert! If you go, make sure you order the roasted Poblano appetizer - to die for! Service was great as well.
