Superb restaurant with outstanding food and service. The menu is limited so each dish gets the attention and care it needs to come to the table perfect. The waitstaff knows each dish, which ones go together (or don't) and what's likely to suit the diner based on the diner's food preferences and appetite. You can also expect your waiter to know what wines on their reasonably extensive list pair well with any of the dishes you've ordered. The gazpacho we had was the best we'd ever tasted and our main courses (bison tamale, home-made pasta noodles with wild mushrooms) were similarly fantastic. The restaurant is on the main road between Taos and Arroyo Seco and it's certainly worth traveling from either place for a fine meal in a cozy and energetic setting.

Everything on the menu is delicious and fresh. The kind of food you'd want to eat at home every night. Seasonal local ingredients. Tasty brothy dishes with fresh herbs. A hybrid blend of Northern New Mexican and Mediterranean flavors. Charming rustic atmosphere and top notch service. Wine list is limited but great selections of Spanish and Argentine vintages. The red chile buffalo short ribs, heirloom tomato salad, summer watermelon salad, posole with radish slaw, and Mediterranean roasted chicken with fennel and perserved lemons are my favorite dishes. I eat at El Meze often and recommend it as the first place to dine in Taos.

We had a great meal at El Meze. Service was very good - and the food was better. I had a wonderful roasted trout dish and my wife had a great dish of homemade pasta. Both were excellent. We highly recommend El Meze for a nice meal in Taos.

The service and view are excellent; be careful when the food is third. Two of our folks ordered the trout. One liked it, the other did not. Both thought that the thick covering of herbs was a bit much. My Spanish steak was ok
